ECW Hitlist: Mark Henry and Matt Hardy, C.M. Punk and Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne and Ricky Ortiz vs. The Miz and John Morrison and Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes
By Jason Powell Oct 8, 2008 - 09:33 AM

ECW Hits

Mark Henry and Matt Hardy: The creative team has done an exceptional job with Henry and I'm happy to see that they are keeping his feud with Hardy alive. I enjoyed the way they gave Henry his heat back by having him beat up Hardy and Jamie Noble. For that matter, it was his toss of Rey Mysterio into the ropes that caused Hardy to fall from the top rope that enabled Kane to score the pin in their tag match on Raw.

Finlay and Hornswoggle: I'm bored by their repetitive act and the shillelagh finish, but there's no denying that the live crowd was entertained by their antics. The kids love Hornswoggle and the act is over regardless of how bored some of us are with watching them do the same thing week after week.

Todd Grisham and Matt Striker: Both men have endured losses in their personal lives recently, yet they both returned on short notice and delivered strong performances. For a team that was thrown together because Mike Adamle sucked and Mick Foley left the company, they are doing a great job.

ECW Misses

Ricky Ortiz: We're going to find out years from now that Ortiz secretly performed the Heimlich maneuver on Vince McMahon and saved his life in catering one day. I don't know how else to explain Ortiz getting this push ahead of some of the guys who are stuck doing jobs.

C.M. Punk and Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne and Ricky Ortiz vs. John Morrison and The Miz and Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes: I expected more from this match. They were given ample time, but it seemed like they were all going through the motions until the finish.

Overall show: Nothing special this week. I'd like to see the performers get more mic time to set up their matches. They made a big fuss in the commercial that aired on Raw about Punk and Kofi returning to ECW for one night only, but then they were just thrown out there with no buildup during the actual show.
