Powell's TNA Turning Point preview and predictions: Jeff Hardy vs. Austin Aries in a ladder match for the TNA Title, which wrestler won't be eligible to challenge for the TNA Title until Bound For Glory?

Jeff Hardy vs. Austin Aries in a ladder match for the TNA Title: This should be a hell of a hell of a main event. The Hardy vs. Aries feud hasn't felt like a big deal yet for some reason, yet this match should have people buzzing about the show if it lives up to expectations. The three-way match may provide us with some indication as to the outcome of this match since the No. 1 contender will be determined. With that in mind, I'm going with Hardy to win his match to set up a title change down the road. More on that in a moment.
Prediction: Hardy retains the TNA Title.
Bobby Roode vs. James Storm vs. A.J. Styles in a No. 1 contender match (loser is not eligible for a TNA Title match until Bound For Glory): Of these three wrestlers, Roode needs the title the most. His suit wearing heel persona begs for the championship. He was really coming into his own around the time they took the title belt away from him at Destination X. Call me stubborn, crazy, or both, but I'm once again hopeful that we'll see Roode vs. Storm in a TNA TItle match at Bound For Glory. More than anything, I just hope we don't see a finish that results in Hardy grabbing his version of the title belt and Aries grabbing the other. It would be a horrible finish and I hope they don't event tease that as the finish only to restart the match.
Thus, I like the idea of Roode winning this match and eventually taking the title from Hardy. That would set up Roode with future matches against Aries with the idea being that Austin has already shown he has his number. As for the loser of the match, I'm going with Storm, who would then need to win the BFG Series to get his eventual match with Roode at the pay-per-view. Keep in mind that Roode doesn't have to win here for all of that to happen. Regardless of the end result, I really like the extra stipulation that the loser can't challenge until BFG. I'm actually more interested in seeing who loses the match than I am in who goes over.
Prediction: Roode pins Storm.
Hernandez and Chavo Guerrero Jr. vs. Christopher Daniels and Kazarian for the TNA Tag Titles: TNA has a thing for quick tag title changes. The two reigns by Daniels and Kazarian have lasted less than a month. As much as I normally don't care for rapid fire title changes, I'd be happy with another one if it meant putting the straps back on Daniels and Kazarian. I'm not holding my breath for that, but I do expect this to be a good match.
Prediction: Hernandez and Chavo retain.
Samoa Joe vs. Magnus for the TNA TV Title: I believe Magnus is slated to film the UK's Strongest Man television show next month. I suppose that doesn't completely rule out the possibility of a quick title change, but I don't really see a need for a title change. Joe and Magnus work well together and this has the potential to be very entertaining.
Prediction: Joe retains the TV Title.
Devon vs. Kurt Angle: Angle beating Devon senseless and getting the win would have been a safe assumption prior to Aces & 8s. It would be a mistake at this point since they are still struggling to establish Devon as a player again. We could get a non-finish, a Devon win due to outside interference, or perhaps even the reveal of Wes Brisco as an Aces & 8s member. I just can't see Devon doing a clean job.
Prediction: Devon doesn't get pinned.
Rob Van Dam vs. Joey Ryan for the X Division Title: Hulk Hogan said Mat Morgan can't be in Ryan's corner. Then again, Morgan hasn't exactly been listening to Hogan these days. I still don't see a reason for RVD to carry the X Title. I'm also not sure what the connection is between Morgan and Ryan's characters. Having Morgan drop RVD with a Carbon Footprint to give Ryan the title would put the belt back on what I consider a true X Division wrestler and get RVD back to feuding with a heavyweight. Will it happen? Probably not, though perhaps they will feel the need to change one title just to make the pay-per-view seem more important.
Prediction: RVD retains.
ODB and Eric Young vs. Tara and Jesse: Whatever happened to the TNA Knockouts Tag Titles? I ask that in the same way that people ask whatever happened to Conrad Bain and Todd Bridges of "Different Strokes" fame. You might have a mild sense of a curiosity, but that doesn't mean you want to see them on your television screen again. Anyway, the straps are not listed as being on the line. If TNA plans to keep the belts in play, then they could be added since Young's contract status appears to be in question. Either way, the heels go over to keep this going.
Prediction: Tara and Jesse win.
DOC from Aces & 8s vs. Joseph Park: For those who haven't been paying attention, DOC is Luke Gallows/Festus of WWE fame. DOC stands for the Director of Chaos. No, they're not calling him Notorious D.O.C. Rather, they're calling him doc. Just in case you're keeping score at home, Devon's Sgt. At Arms position exists on Sons of Anarchy. Though Tig would be perfect for said role, there is not a Director of Chaos on Sons of Anarchy. The match plan would seem to call for Park being surprised by his own in-ring prowess at times, yet ultimately being defeated, perhaps even due to outside interference from the other Aces & 8s members.
Prediction: DOC gets the win.
