ECW Hitlist: Eight-man tag main event, Super Crazy, John Morrison and The Miz, Ricky Ortiz, Gavin Spears, Matt Striker
By Jason Powell Sep 3, 2008 - 10:31 AM

ECW Hits

Eight-Man Tag main event: The match gained momentum as it went on and the last couple minutes were especially fun. I enjoyed the way they set up the big finish with the babyfaces each taking a turn hitting a big move on Henry before Hardy finished him off. Did I really see Tommy Dreamer hit a top rope splash? I'm more amazed by that than Matt Sydal's shooting star press. It was cool to see Dreamer to break out a break out an unexpected move.

John Morrison and The Miz: The Dirt Sheet still comes off better when it's not live, but these guys always crack me up. Parcheesi with Stephen Hawking? Mark Henry's belt extender? A failed attempt to bump fists with the ECW Champ? Morrison and Miz always get a laugh out of me and they still get heel heat because, well, they (especially Miz) are so damn obnoxious.

Mark Henry: He's an intimidating badass. I loved it when Matt Hardy was running down the heels during the Dirt Sheet and Henry cut him off and told him he better think again before insulting him. Henry has been such a pleasant surprise as the ECW Champion that I'm rooting for him to keep his title at the pay-per-view on Sunday.

Super Crazy: Nice pop for Crazy when he came out. He's a good fit on the Tuesday night show, where he actually gets a chance to use his flashy offense and win a few matches.

ECW Misses

Gavin Spears: The creative team just isn't giving him anything to work with. He's such a generic heel that it will take a miracle for him to get over if they continue to use him in this manner.

Ryan Braddock: He's a big kid with a decent look. So why has he become one of the new jobbers that WWE called up from developmental? What am I missing?

Ricky Ortiz: A big kid with silly hair and a lousy look. So why is he getting a push? And what's up with those ridiculous towels that were clearly planted at ringside? I get a kick out of the overly enthusiastic young wrestler who gets carried away with his early success gimmick, but I wish they would have given it to Scott Goldman (a/k/a Colt Cabana). By the way, how sad was it when Ortiz leaned back on the guardrail to soak up the cheers of the fans and the guy standing to his left looked at him like he was a tool.

Matt Striker urges viewers to vote Republican: Wait, wasn't this guy a teacher?
