ECW Hitlist: Matt Hardy vs. John Morrison, Evan Bourne vs. The Miz, Finlay vs. Mike Knox, Matt Striker's color commentary

ECW Hits:

Overall show: It's amazing that I get more enjoyment from a one-hour B-show than the two-hour flagship show that airs on Monday night. The ECW storylines are basic and easy to follow, and the wrestlers actually get to wrestle. ECW on Sci-Fi ranks second only to Smackdown on the list of my favorite weekly pro wrestling shows.

Matt Hardy vs. John Morrison: This match alone was better than anything that aired on Monday's Raw that didn't involve Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels. The sad thing is that the same two guys would probably be booked in forgettable two-minute matches if they were reassigned to Raw. Yes, I'm bitter with the Raw brand, but I'll try to keep the focus on ECW from this point on.

The Miz vs. Evan Bourne: I'm disappointed that Bourne didn't get the spot in the ECW Championship Scramble, but Miz has come a long way in the ring and this was an entertaining match. Bourne will be a star if WWE officials push him the right way and don't look for excuses to hold him back.

ECW Misses

Finlay vs. Mike Knox: I expected more from this match. We were teased with a brawl and were instead given 12 minutes of slow mat work with some punches, kicks, and a good clothesline from Knox thrown in. It wasn't lousy, but I was hoping for a good brawl that didn't end with the cheesy shillelagh finish. Shouldn't Finlay take it personally when Knox called him soft? If so, wouldn't he rather prove something by beating Knox without help from Hornswoggle and the shillelagh?

Matt Striker: I generally enjoy Striker's commentary, but I didn't care for his babyface calls. First, he praised Tommy Dreamer's passion by saying kids who are looking to get into pro wrestling should learn from his passion. Then he said Mike Knox needed to learn difference between fact and fiction when it came to Finlay dancing with Hornswoggle in the SummerSlam commercial. Can't just one of the WWE color commentators have a heel edge?

Chavo Guerrero vs. Tommy Dreamer: The match was fine, but it was hard to get excited about this match knowing that one of these guys was going to advance to the ECW Scramble. Both wrestlers are role players in ECW, but neither guy belongs in an ECW Title match that could have used some new blood.
