WWE Smackdown Hitlist: Edge and Vickie saga, Triple H and Great Khali, Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin, Vladimir Kozlov vs. Festus, Scott "Colt Cabana" Goldman

Smackdown Hits

Shelton Benjamin vs. Jeff Hardy: Another good match for Benjamin. I was happy to see him get so much offense and the match was laid out in a way that made it seem like Hardy was extremely lucky to kick out at the last possible moment a few different times. The MVP interference was predictable, but the match was very entertaining and keeps Shelton's streak of quality television matches alive.

Vladimir Kozlov vs. Festus: This wasn't a masterpiece of a match, but it was a pretty cool to see two wrestlers who have been portrayed as being dominant collide for the first time. I'm surprised they didn't make a bigger fuss out of this match. The crowd was into it and the short match grabbed my attention as much as anything else on the show.

The Brian Kendrick: The live crowd didn't share this sentiment. They sat on their hands throughout his match with the former Colt Cabana. Screw them. Kendrick's act entertains the hell out of me.

Edge and Vickie Guerrero: Edge plays the disturbed psycho lover to perfection, and Vickie has delivered her best acting performances while terrified of her storyline husband. Great work by both of them. Edge's promo at the end of the show was downright disturbing. Perhaps a little too disturbing for a PG show, but what do I know about ratings?

Overall show: Just a slight thumbs up this week. This show wasn't as hot as some of the recent episodes, but it still had its share of good moments. Even a slightly better than average edition of Smackdown is more entertaining than Raw these days. There weren't too many clunkers on the show as you can tell by the low "Miss" count, but there some dull and filler moments.

Smackdown Misses

Triple H roughs up Great Khali. I didn't like the way Hunter proved that he could rough up Khali heading into their pay-per-view. It just seemed counterproductive to ruin the myth of the giant before their match. I had the same problem with Jeff Hardy getting the better of MVP after the opening match, but at least MVP was given some mic time to get his heat back later in the show.

Scott Goldman: The Colt Cabana character is cheesy in a good way, but this was just plain corny in a bad way. Does that make sense? I'm pulling for Colt and I hope they give him a chance to win over the fans like he did in Ring of Honor. I never thought I'd say this, but I miss the Barry Manilow music. I know Colt fans were happy to see him, but just imagine what you'd be thinking about this character if you didn't know his history.
