TNA Impact Hitlist: Booker T, Samoa Joe, Sting, A.J. Styles, Karen Angle, Matt Morgan, TNA's bondage fetish, Taylor Wilde, Velvet Sky
By Jason Powell Jul 25, 2008 - 12:21 PM

TNA Impact Hits

Samoa Joe and Booker T: Very good mic work from both men. Booker's jabs at Joe for having Kevin Nash at his side were entertaining and I really like the dynamic between him and Joe even though I didn't care for the way the contract storyline was booked throughout the show. More on that in the "Misses" section. By the way, I'd also like to see TNA make better use of Sharmell.

Kurt Angle and Team 3D vs. A.J. Styles and Christian and Rhino: I'm going to look past the fact that the finish was a repeat of the pay-per-view match. There was good action throughout the match and this was more entertaining than the usual Impact main event. It also felt like it meant something since the heels took time last week to rub in their pay-per-view win over the same trio.

Matt Morgan: The big man showed more fire than usual last night in his squash win over Cory Chavis. He was very energetic and the crowd reacted to everything he did as a result.

Kaz on Karen Angle's show: Kaz came off well. He seemed much more relaxed in the sit-down environment than he does when he's trying to deliver regular promos.

Karen Angle's show: I didn't like the background music and I hate the way TNA breaks anything like this into multiple parts. That being said, I like the sit-down format but I always hated the way Mike Tenay made faces and overacted. Solid use of Karen.

Taylor Wilde vs. Velvet Sky: I'm still not sure what TNA officials see in Wilde, but they're giving her the mega push and it was good to see her work with someone other than Awesome Kong for a change. Kudos to Sky, who is getting better in the ring.

TNA Impact Misses

Samoa Joe and Booker T storyline: Let me get this straight. Joe opens the show by challenging Booker to face him in a six sides of steel match at the pay-per-view. Booker comes out and accepts the challenge and says he'll bring a contract out for Joe to sign later. Suddenly, the big question of the night becomes whether Joe will sign a contract for a match he preposed. Did the announcers (and whomever wanted them to keep asking that question) think Joe was going to pass on the match and tell Booker to keep the title belt that Joe is letting him wear?

Sting's loyalty questions: For the last two weeks, Kurt Angle and Team 3D have suggested that Sting is tired of the fans and wants to join their faction. Didn't this happen in WCW like 10 years ago? Don't the announcers remember that Sting never switched sides? Sting has been a babyface for decades now, yet the announcers and even some of the babyface wrestlers are acting like he's already joined Sting. The only person still believes in Sting is A.J. Styles, who might look like the biggest idiot of all even if Sting proves him right. Is Sting going to pat him on the head and thank him for always believing in him? I enjoyed the overall show last night, but there's no denying that the two major storylines have some serious flaws.

Robert Roode and James Storm vs. Motor City Machine Guns: Most fans just want to see these teams wrestle without the strap involved. Has Spike TV issued some sort of quota that TNA has to meet every week for S&M? There's always some type of whipping going on when Roode and Storm are present, and now they've added handcuffs to the mix. The match was fine, but enough with the weekly bondage matches already.
