Powell's TNA Final Resolution PPV preview and predictions: Will Jeff Hardy, Jeff Jarrett, or Karen Jarrett be fired? James Storm vs. Kurt Angle, Bobby Roode vs. A.J. Styles in a 30-minute Iron Man match for the TNA Title
Dec 11, 2011 - 02:45 PM

By Jason Powell

The following predictions are made with no inside knowledge of the match finishes.

Bobby Roode vs. A.J. Styles in a 30-minute Iron Man match for the TNA Title. I'm still baffled by TNA's decision to make Styles look like even more of an underdog by having him play up an ankle injury on the go-home show. There's zero shame in a babyface losing a hard fought match to a heel World Champion, yet it appears that creative felt the need to give Styles an excuse for losing. I would be fine if that excuse was created during the actual match, but why send the message that the heel champion is likely to go over on the go-home show? Fortunately, the match has the potential to be very good and I'm looking forward to seeing how they fill the time.

Prediction: Rode retains the TNA title.

Jeff Hardy vs. Jeff Jarrett in a cage match with Karen Jarrett handcuffed to Sting: Let me see if I have this right. If Jarrett wins, Hardy is gone from TNA. If Hardy wins, he becomes No. 1 contender to the TNA Title, and either Jeff or Karen Jarrett will be fired by TNA. Holy overbooking, Batman! They threw the Jarrett family firing stipulation out there yesterday online rather than making that part of the televised match hype. Hardy is on the pay-per-view poster for next month, so he's not going anywhere. I just wonder whether Jeff is taking some time off focus on the All Wheels or India projects or if Karen is simply losing her job as the head of the Knockouts (yet sticking around as her husband's valet).

Prediction: Hardy escapes the cage to win the match, Karen loses her gig as the head of the Knockouts division.

Kurt Angle vs. James Storm: I am looking forward to this match more than anything else on the show. Storm is the breakout star of the company, and Angle carries just about everyone to their best match. With Hardy likely challenging Roode next month, I assume they will drag out this feud a while longer.

Prediction: Storm wins, but Angle gets his heat back with a post-match attack.

Gail Kim vs. Mickie James for the TNA Knockouts Title: This is an interesting match in that Gail needs to show she can deliver a standout match with someone not named Awesome Kong, and Mickie needs to show that she can work up the motivation to deliver more than a passable performance. Regardless of match quality, there's no reason to change the title now.

Prediction: Gail Kim retains the TNA Knockouts Title.

Matt Morgan and Crimson vs. The Pope and Devon for the TNA Tag Titles: Are we finally getting the Pope and Devon breakup? I assume so, but the company has a shortage of tag teams, so I could see them stretching this out. Either way, I see no reason to book a title change since Morgan and Crimson just captured the straps.

Prediction: Morgan and Crimson retain.

Austin Aries vs. Kid Kash for the X Division Title: An undercard match with show stealing potential. Well, I assume it will be an undercard match. I hope I'm wrong. I'd love to see TNA put this match on later in the show to send the message that the X Division belt is important. Both wrestlers are heels, but I could see Kash catching on as a face due to his hilarious personality. Of course, Aries could do the same, but TNA needs a heel champion in a division overloaded on babyfaces.

Prediction: Aries retains.

Robbie E vs. Eric Young for the TNA TV Title: Comedy relief. Regular readers are used to me ripping on the overuse of Young. However, I've been entertained by his character in small doses lately. He plays his comedy role well. Unfortunately, I still don't care about the TNA TV Title, so I'll flip a coin.

Prediction: The coin toss went in Young's favor. Tails never fails, I guess.

Rob Van Dam vs. Christopher Daniels: This match will open the show. I'm more entertained by Daniels than the guy whose character hasn't evolved in years and has been going through the motions for far too long. Okay, RVD seemed motivated when he worked with Jerry Lynn, and while I'd like to think that working with Daniels would bring something out of Van Dam, I still recall that wise ass comment that RVD made before he went to work for TNA about his fans viewing a match with someone like Daniels as a letdown compared to the bigger WWE stars he worked with. TNA should invest more in Daniels than RVD right now, but it seems like the company still views RVD as a star.

Prediction: RVD wins.

Is WWE Raw expanding to three hours per week a good move for business?
Yes. It's an extra hour of exposure and presumably a better programming fee.
No. This is overexposure. See WCW Nitro.
