WWE Raw Hits
12-man tag match: An excellent tag team match. I had no expectations going into the match because there was nothing at stake and this was positioned as the main event match, and it looked uneventful on paper. The fact that it wasn't in the show closing segment worked, and it was great to see the talent get so much time. The finishing sequence with the wrestlers taking time hitting their finishers is nothing we haven't seen before, but the fans pop for it every time.
Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre: I love the opening of the show, as they got right down to business rather than giving us the usual 20-minute talking segment. McIntyre got more offense in than I expected, as I think most of us were expecting this to be a total squash given that Orton lost to Mark Henry the night before. Orton was really over with the fans and the post-match angle with Henry was well done. My only concern here is that WWE built up Hell in a Cell as the most dangerous match they have, yet Orton and Henry looked no worse for the wear, and the guys who worked the Triple Threat version and took pipe beatings were also able to work matches on the show.
Mark Henry vs. John Morrison: A brief, yet hot television match. Morrison had the live crowd with him when he hit Henry with a flurry of offense early, and they really went nuts when he hit his finisher. Henry came right back with his own finisher and got the win. Morrison looked good in defeat, and Henry maintained his status as the monster heel despite giving up so much of the match to Morrison. Very nicely done.
Hype for Big Show's return: It was so nice to see WWE dedicate some Raw time to hyping something for Friday's television show. Repeatedly hyping Big Show's return throughout the show was much more effective than the usual video teasers they run for Smackdown. Granted, they featured Show in one of those late in the show, but having the Raw announcers and Mark Henry talk about it during the show made it seem like a bigger happening than video ads that usually aren't even acknowledged by the Raw announcers.
WWE Raw Misses
Triple H's vote of confidence segment: The angle made for interesting television that likely kept viewers watching until the end. It also gave viewers some incentive to care about whether Triple H loses the job. However, the praise ends there, as none of that was worth making all of the babyface personalities look like pansies. The biggest problem with all of the complaints about how chaotic things have been in the company since Triple H took over is that things really haven't been all that chaotic compared to what we've seen in the past. Jerry Lawler admitted that he doesn't believe Hunter is the real problem, yet he led the walkout and the other babyfaces eventually followed. Jim Ross looked the worst, as the fans were clearly expecting him to do the right thing and then booed him when he tucked his tail between his legs and walked out with the rest of the group. WWE essentially opted to make Triple H look good at the expense of everyone else in the segment.
WWE Championship: They covered the fact that Alberto Del Rio wasn't celebrating because he was worried about The Miz and R-Truth attacking. So be it. But what about the guy who lost the title belt? If the fans are supposed to care about whether John Cena gets the belt back (again), then he has to show frustration over losing the belt.
Kelly Kelly flips out: This was so over the top. They're trying to toughen up Kelly, but it felt forced and I don't think she can pull this off. I was hoping that Beth Phoenix would finally look like a dominant Diva again. Instead, she's on the receiving end of an ass kicking from Kelly. Furthermore, Beth looked really bad for saying that while nothing has actually happened, her fear is that something could happen to the Divas if Hunter remains in power. That was a major eye rolling moment.
