WWE Smackdown Hitlist: Edge and Vickie Guerrero, Triple H, Shelton Benjamin, Vladimir Kozlov, Chavo Guerrero

WWE Smackdown Hits

Edge and Vickie Guerrero: I'm just happy their breakup wasn't all part of a big swerve. Their mini-breakup felt like something that could happen given the personalities involved. Plus, it will be fun to see how they punish Chavo Guerrero for playing both sides. I'm sure the cheap finish of the main event rubbed some viewers the wrong way, but I didn't mind it because it let Show looks strong while accomplishing the goal of getting Edge and Vickie back together again.

Triple H: It's amazing how much fresher he is thanks to the change of scenery. I think a big part of it is that he's not being overexposed on the mic. He took part in the VIP Lounge segment last week, but even then his comments were short and to the point. In other words, he's not being asked to cut the type of long, draining promos that became a turnoff on Raw. Don't get me wrong, Hunter is good on the mic, but sometimes less is more.

Chavo Guerrero: No, I didn't list him in the wrong section. I've been critical of WWE for giving him so many title matches he's received in recent months, but I got a kick out of the way he tried to play both sides when Edge and Vickie Guerrero were on the outs. Fun comedy that fit his character well.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Matt Hardy: It was good to see Shelton get a non-title win because it immediately established him as a threat to the U.S. Title. Benjamin has always been such a talented performer, yet he's failed to take his game to the next level. It looks like the creative team is ready to give him another chance. Here's hoping he makes the most of the opportunity.

Overall show: How many times have you watched Smackdown over the years and felt like you were suffering through filler? I never felt like that once during this week's show. Every segment had purpose, and they even found a way to make things interesting after the Kennedy vs. Domino match.

WWE Smackdown Misses

Lack of followup to Shelton's win: This could have been treated like a bigger event. Why not interview Shelton and/or Hardy later in the show and have the announcers bring it up a few times to make it seem more important? Rather, they had Finlay and Hornswoggle score a non-title win over the tag champs a few segments later and we never heard from Shelton again. I'm still happy they gave him the non-title win, but I think they could have done more with it.

Vladimir Kozlov vs. Stevie Richards: Boring. The match served purpose in the sense that they're still trying to build up Kozlov. However, I'm ready to see him work with some bigger names because his routine is getting stale. I'm not saying it's time to put him in the main events, but it's time to at least let him work with lower mid-card performers.

Triple H video: WWE's production team always seems to show Hunter wearing that absurd Conan The Barbarian outfit from WrestleMania 22 whenever they feature him in a video. Is this a rib? Don't they realize how ridiculous he looked? Seriously, that was the corniest Hunter has ever looked, yet they continue to show it as if they think he looked cool.
