WWE Night of Champions PPV preview and predictions: Will a World Title go back to Raw? Will both World Titles go back to Raw? Will Chris Jericho defend the Intercontinental Title?

The following predictions are made without any inside knowledge of the planned match finishes. In other words, I’m guessing just like you are. Check back on Sunday night for "Live Coverage" of the WWE Night of Champions pay-per-view.
Triple H vs. John Cena for the WWE Title: Hunter and Cena tried for weeks to make this match seem like it was on par with some of the biggest matches in WWE history. Whatever momentum they gained (and it wasn't much) was lost via the WWE Draft. So here we have arguably the two biggest stars in WWE facing off in a pay-per-view match that really doesn't feel like a major event.
Don't get me wrong, the pay-per-view itself seems like a major happening thanks to the draft, but the match itself doesn't feel all that special. There's more focus on which belt will return to Raw than on the big showdown between Hunter and Cena. Nevertheless, I expect an excellent match from these two. They performed well together at WrestleMania 23 and Cena has improved quite a bit since then.
They could shock us and send both belts back to Raw, but I think it's more likely that one belt goes and it will be the WWE Title. Therefore, I expect Cena to beat Hunter and take the title back to Raw with him.
Edge vs. Batista for the World Hvt. Championship. Edge was out of fresh opponents to work with prior to the draft, but suddenly he has potential feuds with Hunter, Jeff Hardy, Undertaker, Mr. Kennedy, and even MVP. Batista will be a fresh act on Raw without the title belt. It looks like both men are fine after bumping heads on Raw. Batista has had very good matches with Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho in recent months. Edge is right there with HBK and Y2J as a worker, so I expect these two to produce a quality title match with Edge coming out on top.
Kane vs. Big Show vs. Mark Henry in a triple threat for the ECW Title. Henry is the only wrestler on the ECW brand and therefore he seems like the most likely candidate to win the title. Show is also a candidate since the ECW tapings will continue to be taped on the same night as the Smackdown tapings. The odd man out is Kane, who is on Raw on Monday nights and therefore won't be around to work the ECW shows. My guess is that Henry gets the win.
Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes vs. Ted DiBiase and a mystery partner for the World Tag Titles. I've been saying for weeks that I expect Cody to turn on Holly and reveal himself as DiBiase's mystery partner. That theory has picked up a lot of momentum and it seems like the most logical scenario unless they're calling up another worker from WWE developmental.
John Morrison and The Miz vs. Finlay and Hornswoggle. I think I speak for most fans over the age of eight when I beg WWE not to book a tag title switch. My guess is that this isn't the last we've seen of this feud since Morrison and Miz don't have any other teams to work with. I'll take Morrison and Miz to retain in a manner that sets up another match next month. Lucky us.
Matt Hardy vs. Chavo Guerrero for the U.S. Title. I'm guessing this is La Familia's big night before their fall either at or shortly after the Edge and VIckie Guerrero wedding. Therefore, I'll take Chavo to win the match via outside interference, which frees up Matt to challenge for the ECW Title.
Mickie James vs. Katie Lea Burchill. I'm curious to see how Katie performers in her first major singles match. She's performed some impressive spots in the handicap matches, but there's a big difference between pulling off a few spots and working a singles match. Can she keep up with Mickie? I think she'll do fine, but you never know. Mickie retains.
Notes: WWE has been telling us that every title will be defended, yet Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho still doesn't have an advertised match. I can't imagine they'd just give away a Jericho vs. Michaels match without advertising it. Is Rey Mysterio ready to return?
I think it would be foolish to give away his return without warning, but they like to surprise us. How about Jeff Hardy? Dot Net reader John Daniels pointed out that they worked a singles match at a house show over the weekend.
Finally, the WWE Divas Title hasn't officially been created, so they could get away with not putting that title on the show. If they do, my guess is that it would be Natalya vs. Michelle McCool for the new strap.
