TNA Slammiversary Hitlist: King of the Mountain match, Kurt Angle vs. A.J. Styles, new look for Abyss, Awesome Kong, Jay Lethal and SoCal Val wedding

TNA Slammiversary Hits
A.J. Styles vs. Kurt Angle: A good, long match. I really could have done without the lame Karen Angle finish, though. Couldn't Kurt have pulled the chair away from his own wife? I also hated the post-match incident with Kurt spitting on Karen. I enjoy Karen's heel character, but I must say that I enjoyed everything that didn't involve Karen in this case. If nothing else, it was nice to see Styles go over and keep his momentum alive.
Awesome Kong squashes two "fans" in a challenge: These segments are a blast. Kong is just destroying these "fans" and making herself look like the ultimate female monster in the process.
Petey Williams vs. Kaz: A strong opening match with some excellent nearfalls. I'm still not a fan of the Little Petey Pump character, but he really shined last night. There were a couple times when I thought he was playing to the crowd too much and some of his moves are too crowd pleasing for a babyface, but he really shined and delivered one of the best performances of the night.
King of the Mountain match: All five guys worked hard and the right man won the match. This was the best King of the Mountain match I've seen, but I really hope the match is overhauled next year. There's no reason to have all those wrestlers do jobs and the idea of hanging the belt is still one of the most anticlimactic finishes in the history of wrestling gimmick matches. It's just ass backwards and I think they could make this a better match with a few rule tweaks. Again, though, everyone worked hard and this was a suitable pay-per-view main event.
TNA Slammiversary Misses
Jay Lethal and SoCal Val wedding: A horribly unimaginative disaster that killed the crowd heading into the last two matches. Everyone other than Jay Lethal, Val, Mike Tenay, and Don West expected Sonjay Dutt to turn on Lethal and their reaction once he finally did made them all look like idiots. Worse yet, they didn't even give Sonjay a chance to get over. Rather, he was beat up by four legends. How does that put heat on Sonjay? Who thought this belonged on pay-per-view?
Eric Young introduces Elvis Presley: I can't believe they wasted all that airtime on Impact just to deliver an incredibly bad Elvis impersonator. This was the Young character at its worst, and I can't imagine anyone who doesn't work for TNA creative found this entertaining.
Abyss: He's actually taken a step back in the look department with his "Normal The Lunatic meets Nailz" outfit. He took a few months off and picked up where he left off as a babyface. At the very least, I thought he was going to return as a heel. His outfit looked so bad that TNA should put him back in his old ring gear before tonight's Impact taping. Well, assuming it still fits.
