-It was inanimate object worship night on TNA. Kurt Angle told a great story about the necklace he carried around, and Hulk Hogan told us that the WWE Hall of Fame ring is the only thing that ever loved him. Wow, Linda Bollea must be a bigger bitch than we already thought she was.
-Does Hogan giving his ring to the ultra-annoying Abyss character count as a Make-A-Wish moment? Please tell me this won't lead to an eventual match where Hogan fights a heel Abyss in a ring on a pole match.
-Did the hooded guys who kidnapped Samoa Joe go through all that work just to tell him he's too fat to ride on their airplanes? Is Joe pledging for Frank The Tank's "Old School" fraternity? Did anyone bother to call the cops?
-I don't care if Kevin Nash and Eric Young have an off-camera bromance, Young doesn't belong in the closing segment. EY went from being an American hater one week to being Nash's hot headed little buddy the next. Apparently, we were supposed to know he turned babyface when he traded in Chris Jericho's suits for The Fonz's jacket. Ayyyyyyyy!
-By the way, congratulations to Rob Terry for winning the little toy belt nearly a month ago. And I thought NBC was pushing it with their long delays for some Olympic events. I guess news travels slowly from across the pond.
-Great facials from Eric Bischoff when Hogan's music interrupted his unmasking of Abyss. Uncle Eric was all over this show. I would complain about someone with so much creative stroke popping up in so many segments, but he's doing quality work.
-Jeff Jarrett is really clicking with me right now. I had a lot of fun at Jarrett's expense over some of the poor clothing choices he made during the early years of TNA, but he's upgraded his look and he plays his sympathetic character nicely.
-The opening segment with D'Angelo Dinero, Ric Flair, and A.J. Styles was very well done. The Pope brought it on the mic, and Flair returned fire as only Naitch can. I'm still not digging Styles as the New Naitch. He just comes across like he's forcing it. Is he the one modern wrestler who didn't grow up yelling "Woooo" and holding up four fingers?
-Ken Anderson's response to Angle was tremendous. I know it's been en vogue to rip Anderson over the last couple years, but there's a reason WWE officials came close to making him a World Champion. He did nothing for me as a babyface in WWE because the mic routine was stale, but he's made a fast rise in TNA. Normally, people bitch when TNA pushes the former WWE wrestlers to the moon, but Anderson is making good on the push they're giving him.
-I'm happy TNA or Spike TV opted to cut the controversial footage with Orlando Jordan and his new male companion. It would be a different story if a company took a truly radical approach and opted to push the first gay babyface character, but it sure seemed like the goal was to garner cheap heat by having Jordan and his male companion tease a sexual relationship. We've finally reached a point where it's uncommon to hear pro wrestling crowds chant "the other f-bomb," and I'd hate to see the company do anything that might lead to it's return.
