WWE Hits

William Regal: The endorsement of Vince McMahon at the beginning of the show didn't do much for me. It was good to get it out of the way, though, since most people would start assuming that he was going to show up and remove Regal from power. I just love the way Regal is playing the character right now. He's not over the top snooty, he's delivering his lines is a normal speaking voice more often than not and it's been really effective thus far.

Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels vs. John Morrison and The Miz: I'm torn on this one. I'm not crazy about seeing the WWE Tag Champs lose for no good reason, but I enjoyed the Jericho and Michaels storyline continuation. Jericho facial expressions were fantastic while Michaels was limping to the ring before the match. I'm not sure if the fans know how to react to Jericho's character right now, but it's not such a bad thing to keep them guessing. The finish of the match was scripted perfectly with HBK delivering another superkick despite his knee injury.

Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix: A good match. I could do without WWE always trying to work the other Divas into the mix, but at least they're shining the spotlight on two of the better workers. By the way, it was cool to see Trish Stratus again.

WWE Misses

Overall show: I didn't enjoy it, plain and simple. Sure, there were some hits sprinkled in, but the overall show really bored me. Vince's appearance was a letdown. Randy Orton vs. C.M. Punk was a letdown. The main event just doesn't appeal to me. I just don't have any interest in these lopsided handicap matches or watching Hunter beat up an entire roster and then justify it by having his partner lose.

ECW roster vs. Triple H and Mr. Kennedy: Even if you're cool with Hunter looking like a superhero, please explain what they accomplished in this match. They showed us how small the ECW roster is. And they showed us that Mr. Kennedy is weaker than Kane because he can't take Chavo Guerrero's frogsplash. Oh, and by the way, enough with Chavo already! Why not use this pinfall to give an undercard wrestler (Elijah Burke?) a boost by letting him get the win?

Regal pulling the plug: I'm worried that WWE is sending the message to viewers that they should just assume that Regal will pull the plug on any big matches they advertise for Raw. It's been a fun stunt for the last two weeks, but I they need to let viewers know that they're going to get what the company advertises. If they want Regal to continue pulling the plug, then ship him to ECW and let him work his magic. Wait, that would turn his babyface.

Mike Adamle: WWE is taking all the fun out of his announcing by scripting him to look like a tool. He was doing a great job of that on his own and now it's just not fun listening to him deliver scripted goofball lines. How could Jerry Lawler not ask Adamle where he ran off to last week? I did enjoy the way Jim Ross just handed Adamle the headsets without even looking at him and then sold the angle by shrugging his shoulders at ringside.

JBL: He can bully all the Heat guys on the roster, but the fans won't take him seriously as an upper-mid-card wrestlers until he beats someone who matters.
