WWE Raw Hits
C.M. Punk vs. William Regal: A good match and the bloody nose added to the match. That suplex Regal hit late in the match was tremendous, and I liked the way they continue to establish that Punk can hit the GTS out of nowhere for the win.
Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes vs. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler: I'm not advocating the idea of announcers being forced to wrestle or holding matches without commentary, but it clicked once and I'm sure it made channel flipping viewers take notice if they stumbled upon a silent Raw show. Now if only this would happen on TNA.
Kofi Kingston vs. Jamie Noble: I'm giving the match a thumbs up even though it was so short. This is about as entertaining as a match that short could be and that's a credit to both wrestlers. That being said, these short matches and lack of mic time aren't helping Kofi's cause.
Chris Jericho: Another classic promo. I love the way he acknowledged the "party guy" character and that he's moved on. He got everything he could out of that character and the "mature" Jericho character is fantastic.
Jim Ross: I know I wasn't the only person who was thrilled to see J.R. pop up on commentary after suffering through Mike Adamle for 30 minutes.
WWE Raw Misses
Mike Adamle named general manager: You surprised us, Vince. And, really, that's the only thing that matters, just as Vince Russo has shown over the years. Maybe the teacher really did learn something from the student. Did you see the reaction of the live crowd? They were so surprised that they sat there silently when Shane delivered the big announcement. They should have popped big time when the new G.M. announced that you were giving away a WrestleMania match at Summer Slam, but they were too "surprised" by the Shane announcement to react. Who cares if Adamle sucks on live television? Jonathan Coachman wasn't a good announcer, but you turned him into a general manager and look at the mega-ratings he drew. This is gold, Vince. Pure gold.
Batista and John Cena verbal exchange: Cena was fine. The problem was that Batista stumbled over his words repeatedly in front of his hometown crowd. Batista does his best work when his lines are limited. He's much better at smirking and selling angles with his facial expressions. By the way, I am surprised that they are going forward with the Batista vs. Cena match at Summer Slam. This could mean they have something better in mind for WrestleMania 25 or it could mean that they're booking for now and not thinking about the future.
William Regal's new shirt: Maybe the new punishment for wrestlers who violate Wellness Policy tests is to make them wear that silly shirt when they return from suspension. Seriously, that thing was hideous.
