WWE Raw Hits
Randy Orton, Triple H, and The McMahons: A fun show closing angle that I didn't see coming. It was the right move, yet it was still odd to see Vince stand at Hunter's side rather than take center stage. Orton's promo was solid despite some storyline gaps, and the brawl closed the show on a high note. The only thing missing was a promo from Hunter to sell WrestleMania.
Shawn Michaels and Undertaker: Another strong angle. This is one of two matches that have captured the WrestleMania vibe. Shawn flashing heel tendencies again after all these years has been fun, and it's been cool to see him turn the tables on Taker.
Santino Marella: I'm giving his comedy segment a hit even though it did nothing to hype WrestleMania on the go-home edition of Raw. I mentioned last night that it would be fun if Santino dressed up in The Spider costume that Fabulous Moolah wore when she defeated Wendi Richter back in 1985.
WWE Raw Misses
Overall show: Last week's show featured much stronger hype for the big matches than this week's show. They tried to cram something for every match on this show, and they would have been better off focussing heavily on the main matches rather than going to with the last ditch efforts to make some of the undercard matches seem meaningful. The show had its moments,
Big Show vs. John Cena: The right guy won the match heading into WrestleMania, but it's just too little too late for the Triple Threat. WWE spent too much time focussing on the love triangle with Show, Edge, and Vickie Guerrero. They didn't get around to putting focus on the World Hvt. Championship until Friday's Smackdown. I believe they'll deliver a good match at WrestleMania, but the buildup has been awful.
Chris Jericho vs. Jerry Lawler: This segment fell flat compared to some of the great angles they've done with Jericho leading up to WrestleMania 25. I was hoping to see Ric Flair or one of the legends who will be involved in the match.
MITB battle royal: I can't believe how flat everything they've done with the MITB entrants has been. Everything they've done just felt like a throwaway segment.
Michael Cole: His lack of enthusiasm for the product came through loud and clear last night. I'm sure it's not easy to have Vince McMahon screaming at him through the headsets, but the Cole on Raw experiment has been a flop. Here's hoping they do the right thing at the WWE Draft and get Cole off live television.
