WWE Raw Hits

Bret Hart and Vince McMahon: Another solid chapter in their saga. I liked the way they teased the match by actually announcing it, only to have Vince announce that he wasn't going to give Bret the match that he wants. Viewers now expect the match, but it's not completely overshadowing the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. The only thing I didn't care for was Bret destroying the equipment. Yes, the ringside scene was similar to Montreal, but I couldn't care less.

Sheamus vs. Christian: A pleasant surprise. I was happy to see Sheamus go over clean simply because he needs in-ring credibility. My guess remains that Christian will end up on Smackdown for an eventual feud with Edge, although it's also possible they end up on the same brand via the draft. Let's just hope that Christian leaves that lousy WNBA joke behind.

DX vs. The Miz and Big Show vs. C.M. Punk and Luke Gallows: The actual match didn't do much for me, but DX breakup is playing out nicely. I'd rather see a slow building story than a sudden turn given the history between Hunter and Shawn. As much as it would have been fun to see Punk on Raw every week, I like the Show and Miz combo. Who would have guessed a few months ago that Miz would hold two titles at once?

John Cena promo: The Will Smith wannabe preacher routine does nothing for me, but there's no denying that the live crowd was into everything Cena said. Sure, he pandered to the crowd by bringing up the New Orleans Saints. It was an easy pop, but he set the table nicely for Bret Hart's appearance.

Ted DiBiase Hall of Fame announcement: I'm shocked that it's taken this long for the man who portrayed one of Vince McMahon's greatest characters to be inducted.

Overall show: A hot episode of Raw. WWE forwarded all the major Raw storylines and did an excellent job of setting up next week's show by advertising three matches. The guest host was solid by guest host standards, and the filler was kept to a minimum.

WWE Raw Misses

John Cena beats up Ted DiBiase: I get it, Cena was pissed. However, this "match" made DiBiase look weaker than he did at the Royal Rumble while he and Cody were lying on the mat being scolded by Randy Orton. I guess WWE is banking on the fans forgetting all the crap they've done to Ted and Cody when/if they give DiBiase the big babyface push. I'm looking forward to Ted's match with Kofi Kingston next week. The problem is that both guys desperately need some momentum heading into the Elimination Chamber.

Gail Kim vs. Jillian Hall: A whopping one minute match. What was the point? They could have had "Maryse deliver her polite in English, mean in French" promo backstage since that was clearly the thing the writers were most concerned with. It's just a shame that they're not going all out to push Gail as an elite Diva babyfae.

Jared from Subway: I am officially boycotting Subway for a month. Yes, I have unnatural hatred for Jared. We all have that one person that rubs us the wrong way and makes us want to throw a Bret Hart equipment smashing fit the moment they enter the room or appear on television. For me, that person is Jared. I don't even know what it is about the guy that drives me so insane, but I feel intense rage and hatred whenever I'm forced to see his asexual doofus face. I'd pay top dollar to watch Jared face the creepy ass Burger King in a fight to the death that ended in double death. Seriously, Subway, move on already.
