We only have four live TNA pay-per-view events per year, yet this one still looks like a B-show. I don't get it. Maybe TNA creative didn't get the memo that Genesis was one of the big four. It doesn't look like a bad lineup, it just doesn't feel important. Here's hoping it does in retrospect.

Jeff Hardy vs. Bobby Roode vs. Austin Aries three-way elimination match for the TNA Title: I want to be excited about this match. After all, I have no doubt that the three wrestlers involved will work hard to deliver a strong main event and I like the elimination stipulation. The problem is that viewers haven't been given any reason to take Roode or Aries seriously. They've been hamming it up as comedy heels, bumping all over for Hardy in two-on-one situations, and did nothing to get heat in the weeks leading up to the match. I'm sure they had fun clowning around, but it was counterproductive to selling the pay-per-view main event.

Prediction: Hardy retains the TNA Title.

Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez vs. Matt Morgan and Joey Ryan for the TNA Tag Titles: The same story as last month. I don't want to see Morgan and Ryan win the tag titles because I don't want to see Morgan and Ryan as a team. I like both acts. I do not believe the acts mesh in any way. Drink whenever Chavo shamelessly does one of his uncles spots to get a cheap reaction, er, pays tribute to his late, great uncle.

Prediction: Chavo and Hernandez retain.

Christopher Daniels vs. James Storm for a TNA Title shot: Storm has plowed through Kazarian in a pair of recent impromptu matches. I get the sense that creative isn't really sure where to go with Storm. I'd like to think that he'll win the match and get the January 24 title shot, but I could just as easily see him see him losing this match to set up Daniels being fed to Hardy. I dig Daniels and Kazarian as a team. If TNA is looking to pop a rating on January 24, then Storm in a title match seems like a better bet.

Prediction: James Storm wins.

Kenny King vs. Christian York in the X Division tournament finals: King has been the cocky one and has the developing issue with RVD. Unless they want that to play out on Impact, King goes over and advances to the finals.

Prediction: King wins the four-man tournament.

Rob Van Dam vs. Kenny King: I like the way King suddenly has a character. He's arrogant and he doesn't respect Van Dam despite being influenced by him. We've come a long way in a short period of time with King, who previously was just another random X Division wrestler to those who didn't follow his Ring of Honor work. It might be wishful thinking, but I think they go all the way with King.

Prediction: Kenny King wins the X Division Title.

TV Champion Devon vs. Joseph Park: There's no indication that the TV Title isn't on the line. Why didn't TNA have a little fun with Park by putting him in one of the Gut Check matches? That seems like it could have written itself. With no title on the line, my guess is Park goes over.

Prediction: Joseph Park wins a non-title match.

Gail Kim vs. ODB vs. Miss Tessmacher vs. Mickie James vs. Velvet Sky in a gauntlet match to become No. 1 contender to the TNA Knockouts Title: Holy random Knockouts match, batman. The current champion is Tara and she's a heel. This would seem to eliminate Kim from winning. Beyond that I'm really not sure. ODB's character is focussed on her husband's return, but Tara does have Jesse with her, so perhaps Eric Young returns and they have the mixed tag feud. I'm fine with that, but do they really need the Knockouts Title involved? Tessmacher had the strap recently. James had a recent title match. Velvet Sky returning recently and hasn't had a shot. Maybe it's her month.

Prediction: Velvet Sky wins the gauntlet match to become No. 1 contender to the Knockouts Title.
