UFC Hvt. Champion Brock Lesnar says he feels like he helped WWE by winning the title, says he felt like he was back in WWE when he was getting ready for the fight with Frank Mir
Jul 23, 2009 - 01:07 PM

Brock Lesnar appeared on the Jim Rome radio show on Thursday and discussed his recent win over Frank Mir. Lesnar said he doesn't have anything against Mir. However, he felt frustrated by losing their first fight 17 months ago. "I almost felt like I was back in a WWE ring and I gave a win to a guy who didn't deserve a win, and it made me sick for a long time."

-Lesnar admitted he regrets some of his post-fight antics. "Absolutely," he said. "To carry a loss for 17 months. It wasn't about me trying to get on the microphone. I have no idea. I guess I should have waited about five minutes to cool down and have my trainers put the leash on me. I was full of adrenaline."

-Rome asked if Brock felt that behavior worked for him in WWE and therefore might work for him in UFC. "This is a business and (Dana White) wants to sell a lot of pay-per-views. That's not my job... I could have done it in a more respectful fashion. What's done is done. I can't go back and change anything. Will that come out of my mouth again? Probably not."

-Lesnar said he and White have a great relationship. "The papers and the things that I've heard, people are going to spin this thing in whatever direction they want," Lesnar said. "He just came back and spoke to me like a man. He just said we couldn't talk like that about the sponsors. And I understood that... I wish I could back and rewind the clock, but I can't."

-Rome asked if Brock would heel it up in the future. "The fans are going to look at this however they want," he said. "I'm going to have to get in the octagon and prove that I'm the best heavyweight champion in the world. I'm not going to focus my time and energy on who I'm going to be. I am who I am and that's how it's going to be. My goal is to carry this belt as long as I can."

-Lesnar said he's helped WWE WWE. "Every day we pushed the envelope and we tried to, I guess in the end, try to make the WWE the most amount of money that can possibly be made," he said. "I think I've done a lot for the WWE to solidify them. I was the WWE Champion and here I am the UFC Champion. The things I've done for that company are remarkable."

-Brock admitted he took more of a physical beating in WWE than in UFC, yet spoke about how demanding MMA is. "I was just telling my wife the other day that the fighting is the easiest part of this sport," he said. "The training camps are where you pick up your wear and tear... On average about two to four hours a day of physicality five six days per week for eight weeks."

-Rome asked about Josh Barnett failing a drug test. Lesnar said he doesn't like to talk bad about anybody, but said he believes Barnett may have made a career-ending opportunity. Brock said he thinks it's funny that everyone talks about as the steroid guy.

-Brock said he hopes to fight Fedor someday. He said MMA is a business to him first and foremost. "We created a lot of controversy in the post-fight. I've gotta look for the good in all of this... Ultimately, in the end, would I accept a fight from Fedor? Absolutely."

-Brock said the knife tattoo on his chest reminds him of the lowest part of his life and serves as inspiration. He said he tried to "hot shot" his NFL career, and needed an "escape goat." Brock said he wanted to pursue something new to get out of the entertainment industry. "I was reaching out and grabbing for anything and it was the NFL." Lesnar said he had tryouts available to him coming out of college. "I'm the kind of guy who needs to know the answers," he said regarding trying out for the NFL. He said the Vikings wanted to send him to Europe to get more experience. "It just wasn't for me."

Powell's POV: Lesnar came off very well in this interview. Rome never tried to push his buttons and Lesnar gave him straight answers. Brock didn't badmouth his W
