UFC News: Huge rematch in the works
Feb 8, 2012 - 11:10 AM |
UFC president Dana White tweeted on Tuesday that Carlos Condit has accepted a rematch proposal to face Nick Diaz following a controversial decision at UFC 143. White told MMAFighting.com that he has yet to set a date for the fight. [Thanks to Dot Net Member Rich Conner]
Powell's POV: I can't believe Diaz didn't stand by his retirement talk. Yes, that's sarcasm. That said, I enjoyed their fight on Saturday and look forward to the rematch. I had Diaz winning 48-47, but I would have accepted Condit winning by the same score. However, I was shaking my head over two of the judges scoring the fight 49-46 in favor of Condit, and apparently I'm not alone. It will be interesting to see whether UFC puts the rematch on pay-per-view or decides to headline a FOX show with it. By the way, I give Condit a lot of credit for agreeing to a rematch when he could have declined in favor of a title match with Georges St-Pierre instead.
