UFC News: Brock Lesnar receives medical suspension
Jan 3, 2012 - 02:50 PM |
The Nevada State Athletic Commission issued a medical suspension to Brock Lesnar that prohibits him from fighting in UFC again before June 28. Lesnar was taken to a hospital due to concerns that he may have suffered a broken rib during his UFC 141 loss to Alistair Overeem. Lesnar's injury is listed as an abdominal issue, according to a story at MMAFighting.com.
Powell's POV: Of course, Lesnar announce his retirement following the fight, but the commission still goes through these procedures since it's possible Lesnar or another fighter could pull a Brett Favre and back out of retirement. Overeem is not allowed to fight until February 14 and his not allowed any sparring contact until January 30 due to the cut he suffered near his right eye. Other fighters were also issued medical suspensions, but none last as long as Lesnar's suspension.
