UFC negotiating to buy control of G4 Network, expected to leave Spike TV
Jun 9, 2011 - 12:20 AM |
The Wall Street Journal reports that UFC is attempting to "buy control" of the G4 Network. Reports indicate that UFC officials met with Comcast executives regarding the network on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, MMAFighting.com reports that Spike TV is preparing for life without UFC. The current television deal with UFC and Spike TV concludes at the end of 2011.
Powell's POV: Spike TV officials are said to be interested in bringing the Bellator Fighting Championships to the network as a replacement if they can't strike a new deal with UFC. There was talk of WWE buying an existing cable network for the WWE Network they've spoken about launching. It appears UFC could end up beating them to the punch when it comes to buying a cable network.
