Spike TV will air an hour of UFC 103 preliminary fights on Sept. 19, according to Kevin Iole at Yahoo Sports. "Providing an action-packed UFC pay-per-view, live and commercial free, to our viewers on both coasts, further illustrates Spike TV and the UFC’s commitment to its fans,” Spike TV president Kevin Kay said in a statement published by Yahoo. Powell's POV: It's no secret that UFC's motivation is to get people fired up about their product that night so they order their pay-per-view rather than the Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight scheduled for the same time.
I'm surprised the pay-per-view companies went along with both events being scheduled for the same night. Of course, that might not be an issue if police found whatever they were looking for when they raided Mayweather's home on Monday morning. For those who are late to the party, there's much more on that story in the WWE News section.
