UFC issued a press release on Wednesday to announce the signing of former World Champion boxer James "Lights Out" Toney. "A lot of pro boxers have made a lot of noise about how they would do in mixed martial arts, but nobody on the level of a James Toney has been willing to back up his talk," UFC president Dana White stated. Powell's POV: The 41 year-old Toney produced a 72-6-3 boxing record with two no contests. UFC has yet to announce when Toney's debut fight will take place. I'm sure there will be some criticism within the MMA world over UFC signing an aging boxer to a contract. Even so, the company is sure to get plenty of publicity over the signing and when he debuts inside the octagon.
