UFC President Dana White announced on Twitter late Friday night that Alistair Overeem, who recently failed a drug test, will not fight for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. He will be replaced by Frank Mir. Mir was scheduled to fight Cain Velaxquez in a number one contender's match on the same card. No replacement for Mir in that fight has been named.

Overeem is scheduled to appear before the Nevada Athletic Commission this Tuesday. While it is possible that Overeem could be granted a license to fight, it is unclear whether he will be on the UFC 146 card at this time. Shore's Slant: I started to write, "Tough break for Overeem," but it isn't a tough break. The guy did it to himself. It will be interesting to see if his fight with current WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar becomes a no contest after all this plays out.
