UFC 105 results: Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera, Mike Swick vs. Dan Hardy for a shot at Georges St. Pierre's Welterweight Championship, Michael Bisping vs. Dan Hardy

The following are the results of the UFC 105 show, which took place on Saturday in Manchester, England.

-Ross Pearson defeated Aaron Riley via second-round TKO.

-Matt Brown beat James Wilks via third-round TKO.

-Andre Winner knocked out Roli Delgado in round one.

-Michael Bisping beat Denis Kang via second-round TKO.

-Alexander Gustaffson knocked out Jared Hamman in round one.

-Dan Hardy defeated Mike Swick via unanimous decision.

-Randy Couture defeated Brandon Vera by unanimous decision.

Powell's POV: Vera landed a flurry right after the opening bell that appeared to rock Randy, but Couture kept his cool and recovered quickly by clinching against the cage. The next round-and-a-half was slow with Vera fending off Couture's takedown attempts. Vera caught Couture with a nasty kick to the ribs in the second round. Couture was hurt, but he recovered nicely again.

The first round was tough to score, but the second round belonged to Vera. Couture opened up the third with a nice flurry of punches and then went back to another long, boring takedown attempt. Vera came back with a couple more kicks to the body. Vera took Randy down late, but Couture escaped. They traded punches as the horn sounded to end the fight. They immediately hugged.

The crowd became restless with all the clenching. Couture dictated the fight from that standpoint, but he was only able to take Vera down once. Swick landed the more impressive offense, but the judges gave it to Couture based on the clenching (and probably some for name value). Vera was devastated by the loss, and Couture looked a little surprised by the split decision win. I would have given the fight to Vera, but I'm not bothered by Couture getting the win since he did dictate the majority of the fight.

Hardy earned a shot at Georges St. Pierre's Welterweight Championship with an impressive win over Swick in front of his home country crowd. Likewise, Bisping also delivered a much needed strong performance in front of his countrymen. Overall, the three-hour Spike TV broadcast wasn't loaded with star power, but it was an entertaining show with a hot live crowd. For a full recap of the show, visit MMATorch.com.
