UFC president Dana White said he was "that close" to making a fight between Brock Lensar and Fedor Emelianenko. "Remember when I met with him and I said it didn't go well?" White asked. "It actually went well. It went well and he wanted to fight Fedor. (Fedor's father died) "And then Fedor was done. He said, 'I'm done, I want to spend the rest of my life with my family.'" Powell's POV: White said the plan was for Lesnar to fight Fedor at Cowboys Stadium. White said he went to dinner with Lesnar when he came to the UFC 146 event in Las Vegas on May 26, 2012, but Brock lost interest in once Fedor dropped out of the negotiations.

"He's done," White said of Lesnar. "He's going to do his stint in WWE and then go away. He's got a big farm up in Canada and shit. He loves to farm and he loves to be with his family out in the middle of nowhere." Shortly after UFC 146, White said his meeting with Lesnar did not go well. He indicates in the video that he made that statement to throw the media off track. Even though neither man was a champion at the time, UFC could have built up Lesnar vs. Fedor as a huge fight.
