Hulk Hogan talks about filming Rocky III with Sylvester Stallone, contemplating suicide, and getting hurt by The Undertaker back in the 90s
Oct 22, 2009 - 12:27 PM

The November 2009 issue of Men's Fitness magazine has exclusive excerpts from former WWE and WCW World Champion Hulk Hogan's new book, My Life Outside the Ring. Some of the following are amongst the highlights:

-Hogan on filming Rocky III with Sylvester Stallone: "So Stallone starts doing his Rocky thing and starts reaching out to try to punch me... I laughed out loud. He was maybe 170 pounds and I was pushing 320 at that point."

Twill's Two Cents: I could believe Stallone getting a little cocky with Hogan. A boxer would have been able to have his way with Hogan; an actor would not have that same success. By the way, Stallone actually dropped down to about 155 to film Rocky III, because they wanted him to look small compared to Mr. T."

-Hogan on contemplating suicide: "Just three pounds of pressure is all it would take - nothing for these big hands - and if I moved that finger an inch in the right direction, like flicking a a switch, I could have blown my brains out."

Twill's Two Cents: This is sad. Like he said later in the interview, he was lucky the gun didn't go off given the state he was in.

-Hogan on being injured by The Undertaker: "Heck, the tips of my fingers are still numb from that Tombstone incident (an ill-executed move with the Undertaker, which caused Hogan to temporarily lose feeling in numerous body parts) way back in the 90s."

Twill's Two Cents: I had never heard about this one either. If was common knowledge or at least out there, I should have heard it by now. What he is saying could be true, but I imagine most wrestlers could pinpoint matches with certain opponents in which they were injured, or it could just be the culmination of several injuries.

This issue, with UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida on the cover, is on newstands now. For subscription information, head over to the Men's Fitness official website.
