Georgia wrestling bill revised
Mar 3, 2008 - 02:21 PM |
Georgia state Senate bill 13 has been revised to include a separate section for pro wrestling. The new bill contains several revisions that were suggested by lobbyists from the pro wrestling side of the debate. One of the key revisions to the bill that has not been made official is the removal of taxation for pro wrestling organizations for running shows in the state.
The final revision is expected to be completed this week prior to a decision on the Senate floor on whether to pass the proposed regulations. For a detailed rundown of the revised bill, check out James Caldwell's article over at PWTorch.com.
Powell’s POV: It sounds like steps have been taken to eliminate some of the over the top elements of the original proposal, which would have destroyed any chance of pro wrestling shows taking place in Georgia. It’s perfectly understandable for lawmakers to keep tabs on pro wrestling given all the problems in the industry, but the original bill took things too far.
