Brock Lesnar wins for the first time in UFC as wife Rena (a/k/a Sable) watches from ringside
Aug 10, 2008 - 02:31 AM |
Brock Lesnar defeated Heath Herring via unanimous decision in Saturday's UFC pay-per-view event in Minneapolis. Lesnar caught Herring with a punch in the opening seconds and then dominated him with a ground and pound assault for the remainder of the fight. Lesnar's wife, Rena (former WWE Diva "Sable") watched the fight from the front row at ringside.
Powell's POV: Lesnar was dominant in front of his hometown fans on Saturday night. He set the pace with the right hand that bloodied Herring, and then spent the bulk of the fight on top of Herring in the mount position. "Can you see me now?" Lesnar enthusiastically asked in a post-match interview. Was that line inspired by John Cena's catchphrase?
Rena walked to ringside minutes before the fight and headed backstage afterward. She posed for a few pictures with fans beforehand, and was very excited and animated while cheering on her husband. I attended the show at Target Center and will have a lot more to say about the event in my blog later today.
