UFC president Dana White and Brock Lesnar appeared on CNBC's "Power Lunch" to show off the company's new line of action figures. A graphic noted that the company signed a four-year deal with Jakks Pacific.
The hosts of the show asked White whether there is any truth to the rumor that he is on the verge of announcing that he has signed Floyd Mayweather to a UFC deal. "No," he responded with a laugh. He also shot down another rumor that WWE was going to become a minority partner and take over sales and marketing.
Powell's POV: The belief internally is that the new action figure deal will be lucrative for the company. There wasn't much to the piece beyond White shooting down rumors. He also said he won't be announcing a television deal with FOX or ABC/ESPN, and he added that the company will not be following in WWE's footsteps by going public.
Brock, who appeared via satellite from the Twin Cities, noted that UFC is real, whereas WWE is strictly entertaining. The Mayweather to UFC buzz started even before he announced his latest retirement from boxing, but White has been consistently stating that there is no truth rumors.
