Late broadcaster Jim McKay (a/k/a Jim McManus) worked as a wrestling commentator for WMAR-TV back in 1947. "I knew it was fake," McKay once told Baltimore Sun columnist Dan Rodricks. "I didn't want to lie on the air. I never said it was fake. But I didn't lie. I knew it wasn't real blood. I knew it was [red liquid] from a squib. So I never called it blood." Powell’s POV: A squib? Anyway, McKay, who died on Saturday of natural causes, moved on to bigger and better things. It's an interesting article that includes a story about a wrestler who took offense to McKay's take on pro wrestling and decided to scare him by throwing his opponent at the broadcaster.
