Indy wrestler arrested for allegedly assaulting a mentally challenged fan

Independent wrestler Adam Gooch was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after allegedly punching mentally handicapped fan Nathan Thomas in the face at an event in Flat Rock, Illinois. The punch drew blood and left a nasty gash on Thomas's forehead.

"It appears he attempted to throw a chair into the ring, and it bounced back which may have caused him to become angry, but the fan, or the victim, were actually pointing and laughing at him," Carmi Chief of Police, Randy Hamblin told 14 News. "The video actually shows him getting into that person's face. In a progression of events, Gooch striking the individual, causing an injury." Powell's POV: The independent promotion has fired Gooch and the local wrestling community will be holding "A Night for Nathan" event on October 17 in Carmi at the VFW. Gooch was still being held at the White County Jail on a $3,000 bond as of Wednesday. The Clark family has stated that they do not intend to take legal action.
