ESPN Classic will begin airing AWA shows at midnight (CST). Comcast’s onscreen cable guide reads: “The top grapplers from the old American Wrestling Association are spotlighted in memorable ring action.” The network had been airing two half-hour episodes of Herb Abram’s UFC shows in the same time slot. The AWA show is listed as a one-hour program.
Powell’s POV: The AWA shows that originally aired on ESPN were not from the promotion’s glory days. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to look back at wrestlers such as Shawn Michaels and Curt Hennig in their younger years.
