Buck Zumhofe's sentencing date is listed as May 7 in a TwinCities.com story on his conviction on 12 charges of criminal sexual misconduct with a family member. The story confirms that Zumhofe attempted to flee the Kandiyohi County Jail after the verdict was read. County attorney Shane Baker stated that Zumhofe's prison term will be influenced by the judge's decision on aggravating factors, which can double the prison time, and also noted that judges can sentence these types of crimes consecutively. Powell's POV: We were told May 8 was the sentencing date, but we have changed our previous story to include the May 7 date to avoid further confusion. Zumhofe actually waived his right to have the jury hear the aggravating factors, meaning the judge will instead decide that portion of the case. He has two prior convictions for criminal sexual conduct from 1986 and 1989. Thanks to Dot Net Member HiSpot for passing along the story.
