Gavin Loudspeaker welcomed everyone to the show, ran down the lineup and sang a song to get the crowd hyped, and they were hot all night long. Pretty good turnout but I'm terrible at guesstimating so I won't even try. The Orpheum is a bar, but the setup was very cool and made for an intimate experience.
1. Sugar Dunkerton and Icarus defeated Jigsaw and Shard, Mike Quackenbush and Green Ant and Kodama and Kobald (of the Batiri) in a 4 Corners Elimination match. Fantastic opener. Kobald yanked my El Hijo del Ice Cream mask off during the match, put it on over his own mask and wore it for part of the match. Great stuff.
2. Gran Akuma defeated Johnny Gargano. A hard hitting match of the night with several terrific near falls.
3. Archibald Peck defeated Obariyon (of the Batiri).
4. Hallowicked defeated Sean Waltman. A solid match that concluded after Wicked hit the Go To Sleepy Hollow followed by a Yakuza kick to the head. Sean got on the mic post match, and thanked the crowd and also put over Chikara.
5. Soldier Ant and Colony Xtreme Force (Arctic Rescue Ant, Missle Assault Ant and Orbit Adventure Ant) defeated Fire Ant, assailANT, Dasher Hatfield and Saturyne. A very exciting match. The new Ants were hilarious and over the top.
6. Mr. Touchdown defeated Jakob Hammermeier to retain the Young Lions Cup after a distraction by Tim Donst and Veronica. Jakob's head is now shaved as a result of last months shows.
7. 3.o (Scott Parker and Shane Matthews) defeated Devastation Corporation (Max Smashmaster and Blaster McMassive) w/Sidney Bakabella 2 falls to 1 to retain the Campeones de Parejas, or Tag Team Titles. Both of the big guys are surprisingly agile, particularly Blaster.
8. Grand Champion Eddie Kingston defeated Amazing Kong in a non-title match. Kingston won with a Sliding D followed by the Backfist to the Future in what I thought was a disappointing match that ended rather abruptly. Not sure if the match was cut short due to the show starting late, and also unsure if Kingston's chair tossing at ringside post match was storyline related or if he was legit pissed.
