Kester's Blog: What WWE Superstars and NXT have taught me about WWE's impending Network
Dec 1, 2011 - 05:10 PM

As I sit here, once again, waiting for WWE to post their online show late, it occurs to me that this is the company that is flirting with the idea of running an entire Network featuring 24/7 television programming yet they can't seem to manage to run their own website.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't some outlet for me to complain about the consistently late shows that I cover for Dot Net. I have more than grown accustomed to this biweekly occurrence and I know full well how to entertain myself waiting for WWE to fulfill their responsibilities. However, WWE's inability to keep up with its own schedule is worrisome when it is considering covering an entire week's worth of programming.

Now, I know that the two shows are by no means a high priority for even the most diehard of WWE fans, but the fact that the company shares that sentiment is unsettling. These shows did terrible ratings and although I am not privy to WWE's internal records, I don't think it's a stretch to assume their site traffic is dismal for these shows. However, the way the company couldn't seem to care less about their programming schedule betrays a lack a discipline that will come back to haunt WWE should they adopt the same attitude with their less loved programming on their new network.

This is a large financial undertaking WWE is about to sink their teeth into, and if they have this same lazy approach with their product, then WWE will be settling themselves up for a colossal failure. It's been said several times that the only thing that could destroy WWE is WWE, and this lax work ethic is just the type of that that could be their undoing if it is allowed to transfer to their network efforts.

As a brief aside, if you are one of the people not watching at least the Superstars matches, then you really should be. It's is the only outlet several young WWE wrestlers have to share their craft, and they often give those matches everything they have. It's a shame that such hard work goes unnoticed in a wrestling world where talking segment reign supreme.
