Kester's WWE Raw Rundown: The build for Survivor Series continues slowly with Big Show attacking Randy Orton, The Traditional Tag match taking shape, and the various authority figures jockeying for control

Randy Orton and Big Show

While I am still not crazy about the pairing of Big Show and Randy Orton for one of the biggest PPVs of the year, WWE did what it needed to by having Big Show get his licks in on Randy Orton. Orton did a great job of selling the beating throughout the rest of the evening in the training room segments.

The biggest issue with this feud is that no one really expects Big Show to go over, so the entire affair feels like a holding pattern for the WWE Championship until the Royal Rumble build kicks in.

The Wyatt Family and Daniel Bryan and CM Punk

All signs point to the recent Wyatts feud with Punk and Bryan being the setup to a huge Survivor Series Traditional Tag Match (even though it's advertised as a standard tag match), while WWE has done enough to get another month out of these two teams feuding past the PPV.

Personally, that would be one of my biggest incentives to order the PPV as between that group and The Shield and Cody Rhodes and Goldust and the Usos being added to the feud, it gives WWE a great chance to showcase some of their younger acts that are already getting a reaction. With so much of the product looking like a return to the status quo, a chance to see some of the future getting the spotlight is a welcome sight.

Authority Figures

Last night, more than most nights in WWE programming, highlighted how much of an issue the authority figure character can be for the product. WWE has given so many characters the crutch of executive authority to gain heat that they actually have to spend time explaining why one of them gets to make a decision over the other.

Simply put, this took up far too much time on Raw and it managed to do nothing for the show. No one gained or lost any heat in these various authority segments sprinkled throughout the show, so they amounted to confusion for the regular viewer and a waste of time.

Overall Show

Overall, last night's show was a disappointment. The first two hours were outright boring and lacking in any real content, and the build for Survivor Series was virtually nonexistent.
