Kester's WWE Raw Rundown: Big Show and The Authority battle over a lawsuit and CM Punk and Daniel Bryan establish a partnership to combat The Wyatt Family
Nov 6, 2013 - 12:42 PM

Randy Orton and Big Show

First of all, this pairing for a PPV main event does absolutely nothing for me. WWE neutered Orton's heat this past month by taking all of the focus off of his feud with Daniel Bryan to focus on the special guest referee, Big Show, and Triple H. Big Show is one of the least compelling babyfaces on the roster considering his extended period of less than admirable decisions. It wasn't all that long ago that a Big Show turn seemed inevitable, and now he's being called upon to play a foil to a lukewarm heel champion. It just doesn't work.

On top of the general issues with this pairing, the setup for this match we got was dreadfully boring. Someone in WWE is proud of this lawsuit story considering the amount of time it took up on this show, but between the amount of time it took up to the plot holes involved, it made for painfully bad television.

The Wyatt Family and CM Punk and Daniel Bryan

This feud is an interesting and unexpected way of moving both Daniel Bryan and CM Punk out of their respective programs. The Wyatt Family could certainly use the foundation of an actual feud rather than the months' worth of random attacks they've been performing, and a tag team feud is just the sort of feud the two babyfaces can use to get the through the holidays and into the Road to WrestleMania.

The brief advancement this angle saw on Raw was effective. It established that Bryan and Punk had a common enemy and were willing to watch each other's back to help fight it. I would have preferred not to have Punk go over a Wyatt Family member so early as that is a terrible indicator for how the Wyatts will be treated in this feud, but I'm still excited by the prospect that some development will actually be put into the stable over the course of the next few months.

Overall Show

This week's Raw left a lot to be desired. Little of consequence was accomplished with the main stories, and the build for Survivor Series was virtually nonexistent.
