John Cena and Mark Henry

Mark Henry and John Cena had a solid exchange on the mic. Cena delved into a few too many jokes when the feud called for his "preacher mode" hard sell, but overall the segment made Henry look like a threat and once again showed that despite Cena's words, he's taking the threat of Henry seriously.

I worry about the Henry character. I still remain convinced that he's not walking out of Money in the Bank with the WWE title, but Cena laid it in thick that his career would effectively be for naught if he failed to capture the championship. It's a good story to be told, but I'm not convinced it's what's best for Henry, and the WWE as a whole, for the long term. Henry is a rare credible, monster heel, and the conclusion of this story without a title win damages that credibility considerably.

The Wyatt Family

The Wyatt Family's debut was impressive. The "WWE Reporter" vignettes, while a silly notion in its most basic elements, were creepy enough to make the Wyatt's eventual debut carry an extra impact. The debut itself was handled very well; the group's entrance worked wonderfully and their subsequent attack on Kane looked brutal.

It's disappointing to see fans pounce on the "Husky Harris" chants so readily. A lot of work has been put into the Bray Wyatt and Wyatt Family act, and it's unfortunate to see that being buried by fans that wanted to be clever.

I had some reservations on how well The Wyatt Family would translate from their hype videos to the actual live content, but the first impression was a good one. They still need to have the Bray Wyatt character paired with another act on the mic and not have suspension of disbelief fly out the window, but the debut was enough to make me optimistic.

All Star Money in the Bank matches

WWE did a great job of selling the All Star Money in the Bank match. Each of the participants got their moments to shine on the show, and each match ended in a clean, decisive fashion devoid of the typical brawl heading into such a large multi-man match.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens to Kane. It would be surprising if they had him stay in the ladder match after The Wyatt Family's assault, but there is no one jumping out to me that should take his place.

Overall Show

Last night's Raw was a solid go home effort. WWE did a good job of making the participants in the All Stars Money in the Bank match look strong and the WWE Championship picture continued to work well. The McMahon family drama coupled with Vickie Guererro's firing was far too drawn out, but the show was otherwise entertaining.
