Kester's TNA Impact Rundown: Bully Ray defends his championship against Jeff Hardy, Bad Influence try to win over AJ Styles, and Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez become the TNA Tag Team Champions

Bully Ray vs. Jeff Hardy

This match was easily the highlight of the night. Ray and Hardy put on one hell of an effort and produced an entertaining Full Metal mayhem match.

Ray continues to aid Aces and Eights simply with his involvement. It may be that Ray's act is what is over and Aces and Eights just happens to be there, but with the way TNA is presenting the group it at least appears like they are getting heat.

James Storm, AJ Styles, Hulk Hogan, and Bad Influence

TNA is really attempting to make this story work, and they seem to be taking the approach of adding as many wrinkles to it as they can and seeing what eventually sticks. This week it was an added idea of Bad Influence trying to bring him into the fold.

I think this move is a mistake. One of the biggest issues with Styles before his departure is how TNA had no idea what to do with him other than have him involved with Kazarian and Daniels in some capacity. Now we're receiving more of the same from the group, and the feud TNA is trying to facilitate with Storm and Styles simply hasn't caught fire.

Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez vs. Bobby Roode and Austin Aries

This was an odd match. There was definitely some solid action, but the production let the air out of halfway through with an odd commercial cut and the title change makes little sense. Chavo and Hernandez simply aren't compelling as a team.

Hopefully, this move was made either to lead to a breakup of Aries and Roode or moving the titles quickly to Bad Influence. They're easily the most compelling team TNA has at its disposal, and TNA could rebuild the division around them, with some new faces, if they chose to do so.

Overall Show

Last night's show was disappointing. It was hailed as a PPV quality event, but it simply didn't deliver enough quality to make that statement genuine. The show felt like any given Impact with a better-than-average main event.
