Kester's TNA Final Resolution Rundown: Aces and Eights turn on Bobby Roode, Christopher Daniels defeats AJ Styles, and Bully Ray and Hulk Hogan continue to be at odds over Brooke
Dec 10, 2012 - 02:33 PM

By Ryan Kester

Bobby Roode vs. Jeff Hardy

This was a solid main event that provided plenty of great in-ring action. Roode's stretch of uninterrupted offense seemed to let the air out of the crowd, but otherwise this was a good way to end a TNA PPV.

I'm curious where TNA will be taking the title picture next month. Roode lost, but he was also distracted when Hardy got in the match-ending Twist of Fate. That just doesn't feel like something that would attract a lot of people into buying the next PPV, however, and there is no obvious candidate to take Roode's place.

AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels

This was easily the match of the night. I can understand why TNA went back to this match so many times considering the quality these two men can deliver.

I am glad TNA went with the story that they did by having Daniels go over Styles. It gives Daniels a long-term bragging point and it enhanced the current story of Styles being down on his luck. I have had my complaints about some of the TNA stories recently, but this chapter of this story was well written.

Bully Ray vs. Austin Aries

Ugh. I wanted to like this match and this feud so much, but the story that is attached to this angle is too ridiculous for me to continue to invest energy into it. Ray and Aries did good work, but they some of their former magic was lost by having their heel and babyfaces roles reversed.

The Brooke Hogan storyline attached to tis had promise, but the writing involved isn't leaving me with much to enjoy. Hogan could easily still fill this role by targeting the age of Ray or the wrestler's lifestyle and trying to reason with his daughter, but he is going with the "while you're under my roof" vibe when his daughter is a grown woman. It's a subtle thing, but when families are involved in a wrestling storyline things have to be written very well or they fall apart quickly and this story is just too broken for my liking.

Aces and Eights

This is just a minor note, but I find I don't care about Aces and Eights anymore. They got an attack in tonight, but they have been beaten so many times in the brawls and in matches that they don't really come off as a threat. I'm not sure how TNA plans to run with the group, but it's already losing steam for this viewer.

Overall Show

Final Resolution was ok. There were some great matches involved, but the show never felt important going in and TNA did nothing to give me the feeling that I saw an event going out. It felt like a long, Sunday edition of Impact.
