Kester's WWE No Way Out Preview and Predictions: John Cena vs. Big show in a Steel Cage Match, CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Kane, Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler, and more
Jun 17, 2012 - 08:25 AM

By Ryan Kester

The following predictions are made with no foreknowledge as to what the finishes or booking will be. They are predictions made solely based on what WWE has done and what I think they will do.

John Cena vs. Big show in a Steel Cage Match: Goodness, I hope this match isn't the main event as the story thus far has been dreadfully dull and I do not suspect the in-ring quality will be enough to warrant the placement at the top of the card. If anything, I am simply thrilled that we are at this point so something different can start happening. I believe Cena will be going over here and WWE will be moving on to another authority figure in an attempt to boost ratings.

Prediction: John Cena defeats Big Show

CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Kane in a Triple-Threat Match for the WWE Championship: This is easily the match I am looking forward to the most on this card, which has a lot to do with the excellent build this match had over the past month. All three men have shown they can mesh well together in the ring, and I look forward to what they have in mind for the PPV. I am going a bit out on a limb here and I think that Bryan will be the man to walk out with the championship after some help from AHJ>

Prediction: Daniel Bryan wins the WWE Championship

Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler for the World Heavyweight Championship: Finally, Ziggler gets his time in the limelight. Yes, this came about because literally everyone else was suspended or hurt, but it's still nice to see him get this opportunity. I'm expected Sheamus and Ziggler to attempt to steal the show, and I think they will continue this feud for a month or two, thus I think Ziggler will go over without the belt to necessitate the rematch. Considering the characters involved, I predict Ziggler will get Sheamus to lose his cool and force a DQ finish in favor of Ziggler.

Prediction: Dolph Ziggler defeats Sheamus via DQ.

Christian vs. Cody Rhodes for the Intercontinental Championship: Poor, poor Rhodes. He looked positioned for a run in the main event before WrestleMania and he has subsequently and systematically stripped of every ounce of heat he once had. I don't see that ending anytime soon, unfortunately, so I expected we'll be seeing Christian go over in this spot.

Prediction: Christian retains the Intercontinental Championship

Santino Marella vs. Ricardo Rodriguez in a Non-Title Tuxedo match: The United States Championship has been relegated to use by WWE's current comedy team. Look, this match isn't for me, but if it's positioned properly it can give the crowd a bit of a buffer between matches while giving the youngins something to chuckle about. WWE could have them wrestle a competitive match as I have seen both men go before WWE, but a tuxedo match kind of seals this match's fate. As far as a prediction goes, I can only see the fan favorite going over in a pure comedy spot on the card.

Prediction: Santino Marella defeats Ricardo Rodriguez

Layla vs. Beth Phoenix for the Divas Championship: I cannot pretend to care about this match. As I write this piece I can't even recall any of the build leading up to this PPV for the Divas. WWE Needs Kharma back desperately, or they need to find someone like her to get creative's attention. As it stands this match is just sort of there, and I have no expectations of a particularly memorable match to go along with a completely forgettable feud.

Prediction: Layla retains her championship.

Brodus Clay vs. David Otunga: I am somewhat interested in this match purely to see where WWE is at with Clay. He's shown a better intensity as of late and I hope it leads to his moving on from the Funkasaurus gimmick and on to greener pastures, but this could just as easily be another filler match to put in between the more creatively important affairs.

Prediction: Brodus Clay defeats David Otunga
