Ryan's Reaction: Hell in a Cell, Triple H stands alone, Mark Henry, Beth Phoenix, Bound For Glory hype, and more
Oct 9, 2011 - 02:22 PM

What Went Right

- Mark Henry delivered an absolutely amazing promo this past Monday night on Raw. The man continues to be the most interesting attraction in WWE he has yet to cease to surprise me.

- TNA continued to improve this week with less and less packed segments, and a clear story that was being told throughout the entire episode. It's not perfect (more on that in a moment), but they have made great strides towards making their show not only watchable, but at points entertaining.

- The HIAC triple-threat main event for the WWE Championship was highly entertaining. The three men involved worked an extremely fast pace and managed to provide a wealth of action for a solid twenty-five minutes.

- The post-match attack by the Mix and R-Truth at HIAC was also very well done. Seeing the entire roster trying to push in the cage to get to the two attackers was an excellent visual, and the whole scene was enhanced by Jim Ross calling the action.

- Beth Phoenix finally captured the Divas Championship at HIAC. Although she experienced a setback on Raw, Phoenix and Natalya got a lot of their heat back on Smackdown when they decimated Alicia Fox.

What Went Wrong

- WWE saw fit to have Triple H end Monday Night Raw as the biggest babyface in the company by having the entire roster walk out on him. It's 2011. It's time we see a new generation of starts being made and getting the center stage, not time for WWE to put their faith behind stars that do not have a lot of longevity.

- Mark Henry got absolutely torn apart by the Big Show on Smackdown. It is far too early in this feud, and in Henry's run as a dominant heel, for him to be taking such a beat down.

- TNA failed to deliver in the wrestling department. Every single match had some sort of cheap finish, and only the main event had anything relatively close to a memorable match. At its core, Impact is a wrestling show yet the wrestling aspect is the one area that hasn't received enough attention in TNA's recent improvements.

- Kelly Kelly was presented as a dominant wrestler when she attacked Beth Phoenix on Raw. I have no clue why WWE feels the need to reinvent the wheel with Kelly when she was already over as a likeable beauty. She does not need to be tough, and any attempt to make her look tough just comes off as fake and ridiculous.

- Hornswoggle and Booker T got TV time to do a few spinaroonies on Smackdown. On a show with matches that barely scraped the three-minute mark, that sort of useless filler really needs tobe left on the cutting room floor.

What Needs to Happen Next Week

- WWE Needs to settle down a bit and stop hot-shotting. They are burning through their trump cards quickly, and the impact loses its effect quickly when every week is met with some shocking reveal or moment for the ages. Less is more.

- Mark Henry must be allowed to sell the PPVs in the coming months. He needs to be kept dominant with his opponents only looking as if they stand a chance. If his prospective opponent can dismantle him within moments, the thrill of potentially seeing the dragon get slay dissipates instantly.

- Bully Ray needs to be allowed to give the final hard sell for this match against Mr. Anderson at Bound For Glory. He's the better promo, and I have much more faith in his ability to draw heat than I do in Mr. Anderson's ability to connect with a crowd.

- Bobby Roode and Kurt Angle need to be the focus of the go-home show for Bound For Glory. Hulk Hogan and Sting are important to the card, but they really need to take a back seat to the launching of a new star's main event push.

- WWE Needs to either give Jinder Mahal a push or let him go. With how he's been presented as of late, he doesn't even provide people that beat him any rub. Once a man get beat by the Cobra in thirty-five seconds, he really only makes others look foolish when it takes them longer to defeat him.
