Bound For Glory Series

The Series is not off to a very hot start. TNA found some of the least interesting matches possible to find the participants in the BFGS, and the variance involved in the matches led more to a disjointed show and a lack of focus than it did set what is essentially TNA's "Road to WrestleMania" equivalent in motion.

Despite my misgivings about the BFGS' beginning, I am glad that it's upon us. TNA tends to give guys that are otherwise ignored more time in the limelight this time of year, and that's exactly what is needed to counteract some of the booking at the top of the card.

Mickie James and Velvet Sky

This segment was spectacular. James solidified her turn and Sky gained a ton of sympathy from the crowd. I may not care much for Velvet Sky's matches, but she is undeniably over and this angle worked well for her.

I continue to be impressed with the work in the Knockouts Division as of late. They've been producing consistently high quality and entertaining work in the past few weeks, and with a fresh heel James at the top of the division, I expect good things to keep happening.

Sting's New Main Event Mafia

I have no idea what TNA is thinking with this move. It was bad enough when they had Sting main event one of their four PPVs of the year, but now they're having him be the spearhead for the Aces's and Eights' antithesis. TNA needs their product to feel fresh again, and they solve the issue by turning to another recycled concept full of older performers.

It will be interesting to see who TNA can get to man the new Main Event Mafia. One can only hope that Sting turns to some of the younger talent that's captured the title in recent years rather than TNA actually calling back a chunk of the group's original members.

Overall Show

Last night's show was decent. It kicked off the BFGS, but the qualifiers that were set up were uninteresting and lacked the weight that they should have had.
