Bound For Glory Series

More of the same this week, but I like the stories that are developing out of the MFGS. Samoa Joe is returning to a focus on submission wins, Magnus is out to prove himself, and the main events have been centered on getting key players in the BFGS in the ring together.

TNA is handling the BFGS leagues better than they did last year. If they can keep up the quality until BFG then the BFGS can be a money idea for TNA.

Austin Aries and Bobby Roode

I like Aries and Roode and their chemistry together, but this week's exchange was just bad. From Aries talking about a boom period to whatever the hell Roode was supposed to be doing with his look of constipation that lasted way too long, this segment simply missed the mark.

If anything, it felt like this exchange was heavily scripted whereas their past promos have felt fluid. Whatever TNA did to set up this week's segment between Aries and Roode, they need to scrap and go back to what they were doing during the build to Destination X.

Aces and Eights

TNA did an effective job of reestablishing the group's brutality while simultaneously retaining their mystique. There hasn't been much revealed about Aces and Eights, but what has been revealed has been enough to make me want to see more.

My one complaint about this angle is the name given for the group. "Aces and Eights" sounds like a low-rent tag team, not a stable of threatening masked thugs. Out of the two for the idea they went with, "Dead Man's Hand" sounds infinitely better than "Aces and Eights" and even then it isn't the most awe-inspiring name in existence.

Claire baby drama

I'm ready for this, and the Daniels vs. Styles feud that spawned the idea, to simply go away. Daniels has the talent and the heat to deserve to do better things than serve as Styles' holding pattern, and the Claire story is simply awful.

Speaking of Claire, how is she supposed to be a sympathetic figure anymore? Her track record now includes getting knocked up by a married guy, drinking and taking pills while pregnant, to now smoking and demanding that Styles "do the right thing." This reminds me way too much of the time TNA tried to convince us we should feel sorry for Traci brooks after she left with Eric Bischoff three times and didn't get the job she wanted out of the deal.

Overall Show

Last night's edition was decent. There wasn't anything really earth-shattering yet there wasn't anything channel-change bad either. The Claire storyline is annoying to sit through, but the rest of the show provided some entertainment while furthering the storylines TNA is focused on.
