Mark Out Moments - Monday Night Raw: A phenomenal heel turn, Sin Cara teams with the face of WWE, and C.M. Punk vs. Randy Orton in a Wrestlemania rematch
Apr 19, 2011 - 01:38 AM

By Mark Gessner

- Why do wrestlers, oops, Superstars continue to give up opportunities for no reason at all? Rey Mysterio putting up his Wrestlemania main event spot on the line against Randy Orton after winning the Royal Rumble, Mr. Kennedy putting up his Money in the Bank briefcase against Edge, and now Truth agreeing to giving John Morrison a match for the WWE Championship match at Extreme Rules. There is no logic to it and it's not even a matter of suspending your disbelief.

- John Morrison showed some of the "it" factor he's been lacking on the mic in his career in his promo tonight. He has changed up his work style somewhat lately and looks like he is actually in a fight rather than just a choreographed performance going from spot to spot. If he can bring that intensity to his mic work, he will be a complete package. He did show a glimpse of his improvement on the mic tonight though.

- So Sandman couldn't smoke on ScyFy when it was part of his gimmick for the past ten years but R-Truth can light up on a now PG show. I really don't care as a smoker myself but I don't think a parent with their kid watching will be so apathetic towards it.

- That was one of the best heel turns in recent memory. Jason has hinted at it since last summer when he was interacting with John Cena during the birth of the Nexus and tonight it came to fruition. Truth showed more in his three minute beat down of Morrison than he had in his three years back with WWE.

- Dolph Ziggler has gone back to his Nicky of the Spirit Squad haircut. I really didn't pick up on his "new attitude" that Vickie promoted but it will be interesting to how his character is portrayed from here on out. And, I understand that you need to promote the Draft next week but is questioning if Ziggler, who came over to Raw from Smackdown a month ago, really that good of a pitch?

- You could see the tag match coming with Miz coming out in his ring gear. Who was trying to get the rub from who though- Cena from Sin Cara or the other way around?

- If Sin Cara connects with more than a brushing arm, the springboard from the apron moonsault could be a great finisher. Entertaining tag match. The UK has been strongly against Cena since his five star hour-long TV match with Shawn Michaels four years ago and they still give him heat whenever he's in the ring.

- Why would Eve being drafted to Smackdown stop her from getting a Divas Championship Match? Doesnt the belt get defended on both shows?

- "The Bella Twins are a four at best, combined."- C.M. Punk on his first night as a Raw commentator. They can not work. Somehow they are worse on the mic than Eve who they're working a program with. They have a job because???

- Bitching about WWE's treatment of Jim Ross is a moot point. If the Vince McMahon Kiss My Ass Club wasn't bad enough, kissing Michael Cole's gross athletes foot (yes, I realize the humor in that) is just stupid. Vince is a senior having fun tormenting a freshman. Grow up.

- Fun fact: Sheamus' debut at the O2 Arena was him taking a Pedigree from Triple H as a member of security trying to fight off DX who had been banned from the building.

- I really like the idea of Sheamus going back and avenging his losses over the past few months. If it means rebuilding him to the top heel that he used to be, I am absolutely all for it.

- Damn good TV main event. Punk really brings out the best in Orton. Good match psychology with Punk unable to put Orton away. The Nexus interference following the match was predictable. Mason Ryan has lost the "deer in the headlights" look that Sean Waltman labeled him with during his debut match with R-Truth. It will be interesting to see where Nexus goes from here with Punk calling off Ryan wanting to punt Orton and it backfiring by Orton hitting Punk with a RKO.
