Mark Out Moments - WWE Tough Enough edition: Thoughts on the premiere edition of the new USA Network show
Apr 5, 2011 - 01:30 PM

By Mark Gessner

This is the third of the three editions of Mark Out Moments that ran today on each of the shows that aired during WWE Night on USA Network.

- It was fun seeing the contestants being put to work behind the scenes to give them an appreciation for the business. It's a big step up from wrestling in high school gyms to sold out arenas and having them do the work of a high school janitor should help keep their egos in check.

- While I understand that the biggest names in the business don't always make the best trainers and usually undercard wrestlers are better trainers, Bill DeMott as a trainer is a joke. Can anyone name a single match he was apart of that you remember other than being the first to lose to Goldberg? You have William Regal whose doing nothing with the company except NXT announcing, is one of the best technical wrestlers in the business. Or, Al Snow (WWE has a bigger check book than TNA) and it would be a great return following his first stint on the show.

- Sean Waltman is someone else who could of been brought in, brings some name value, and on top of knowing the basics, can teach match psychology. The Ultimate Fighter takes six weeks to shoot so I'm assuming Tough Enough takes about the same amount of time. I'm sure for a pay check, Pac can go six weeks without waking and baking or at least hold off until taping wraps.

- You can immediately tell who has played sports on either a high school or collegiate level. When coaches or trainers call you to a certain spot or place, you don't walk, you run. As my baseball coach was known for saying, "if you wanna walk, join the golf team."

- Miss USA padded her ass for a running the ropes drill. I always thought girls stop padding after Jr. High.

- Eric rolling his eyes and shaking his head at Ariane faking crying was hilarious. Austin talking about either pissing or shitting his pants against Yokozuna but continuing to wrestle his match was funny.

- This show airs at 11:00 EST. Any kid with parents who care should be in bed. For this show with Stone Cold as the host to be PG is a mistake. At least go TV-14. The elimination segment has so much taken away from it with every third word being censored.

- "My favorite match was between Melina and Alicia Fox"- Ariane. Someone who can't work and someone whose known more for their ring entrance than ring work. You seriously would show up to a show with Trish F'n Stratus and not have seen any of her matches or anything from ten years ago rather than ten months? Bye Ariane.
