WWE Live Events
8/8 WWE in Loveland, Colo.: A 10-man battle royal with the winner challenging Randy Orton for the WWE Championship later in the night, MVP faces a developmental wrestler, Jack Swagger vs. Primo
Aug 12, 2009 - 11:24 AM

WWE Raw house show
Loveland, Colo.
Report by Dot Net reader PHK

The arena was 3/4 full, and the crowd was hot. I didn't have the heart to tell the kids sitting next to me that John Cena and Triple H were not scheduled to be there. The audio was terrible, it was hard to hear anything on the mic.

1. Big Show won 10-man Battle Royal to earn a title shot in the main event. The participants included Carlito, Primo, Cody Rhodes, Ted Dibiase, Jack Swagger, MVP, Jamie Noble, Mark Henry, Kofi Kingston, Big Show. Hot match to start the show with some great spots. The crowd got behind MVP and Big Show. Big Show knocked out Legacy to a good pop, went one-on-one with Mark Henry. The crowd then got behind Henry, who took a wicked spear from Big Show, who dumped Henry over the ropes after he ran into a corner with a removed turnbuckle. Big Show took the mic and heeled up the crowd to significant heat. The crowd did the "what" response, which I think was mostly due to bad audio.

2. Evan Bourne defeated Chavo Guerrero. Evan came out to surprisingly little reaction. Chavo made fun of people in the crowd, but the crowd was not into the match at all. Lots of holds from Chavo didn't help. Hornswoggle came out and distracted Chavo, who took an Air Bourne for the finish. What an awesome move. Evan's character needs some edge, he looks like a huge dork with the "V" signs.

3. Kofi Kingston beat Carlito to retain U.S. Title. Kofi won with his kick. Carlito played the moody heel. Crowd was meh, though Kofi had some "ooh" moments.

4. MVP over Alex Riley. Riley heeled up the crowd, but no one could hear anything. MVP got a great reaction, although the match was lackluster. I'm convinced that MVP isn't over, but crowds just want to chant "MVP." He hit the Playmaker for the win, which looked more flashy than I remember.

5. Jack Swagger defeated Primo. Swagger is IMPRESSIVE. He's got future main eventer written all over him. Short, but sweet match with the gutwrench finisher. WWE should play him as a monster heel. What little offense Primo had seemed out of place.

6. Gail Kim and Mickie James beat Beth Phoenix and Rosa Mendes. Crowd popped huge for Mickie James. A little sloppiness, especially from Rosa. Crowd was into the match, Gail and Beth are especially great. Gail nailed a huge, stiff top-rope missile dropkick to the throat on Beth that the crowd went crazy over, and Mickie hit the senton on Rosa for the win. I'm hoping for Gail vs. Beth after SummerSlam!

7. Randy Orton defeated Big Show to retain WWE Championship. Orton got a mixed reaction. He definitely has a championship presence, though, even if he sucks on TV. The crowd surprisingly was behind Orton in the match. A couple of huge "Randy" chants broke out. Legacy came out and distracted Big Show, Orton hit the RKO for the 1-2-3. Funny how Legacy got boos but the crowd still popped huge for the Orton win. Big Show got up and tried to talk but the crowd broke out the "what?" chant again. Big Show got pissed and left. Dude, we just couldn't hear you.

End of show. Aww, no Miz.

Biggest pop
1. MVP
2. Mickie James
3. Big Show
4. Orton

Biggest heat
1. Big Show
2. Legacy
3. Swagger
