WWE Raw house show report
Green Bay Wisconsin at the Resch Center
Report by Dot Net reader David Nordby
The show started two minutes before 3:00 p.m. and lasted until 5:50 p.m. for a semi-long house show. The entire floor was sold out as well as most of the interior seats. The exterior stands were mostly empty.
Tony Chimel Introduced general manager William Regal after a national anthem playing. Regal said he is bringing the best show on earth to Green Bay and ran down the card. He said we could vote for the main event between Chris Jericho and Randy Orton. It would be a Street Fight, Falls Anywhere or two out of three falls.
1. Super Crazy defeated Charlie Haas in six minutes. A good opening match with some good action. The crowd enjoyed it throughout. Charlie Haas did his mask gimmick, and then wore down Super Crazy with a full nelson in the middle of the ring. Some kids around me thought it was Chris Masters under the mask. Super Crazy got the pinfall a few minutes later.
2. Brian Kendrick defeated DH Smith in 10 minutes. Dull match, when it was quiet one fan shouted that's what steroids do, and DH Smith smiled and flexed one arm. Kendrick got the pin later on.
3. Paul Burchill (w/Katie Lea) defeated Val Venis in eight minutes. Good match. Katie tried to distract Val throughout but he found away to get away from it. Finally though, he missed the Money Shot, and Burchill was able to pick up the win. On the way out everyone cheered Venis, and the crowd laughed at how the refs who were helping Val to the back gave him a wedgie of sorts.
4. Cody Rhodes & Hardcore Holly defeated Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch in eight minutes to retain the World Tag Titles. Good tag team bout. Rhodes and Holly were really over, Cade and Murdoch had good heat on them as well. Cade and Murdoch really played the heels strong and got into fans faces throughout the match.
Santino Marella came out and made fun of Green Bay, Brett Favre, etc. It was only to be interrupted by Mr. Kennedy. The place went nuts for Kennedy. Kennedy's microphone didn't come down so he had Chimmel hand him one when he was in his pose. Then he went on to say people in Wisconsin like drinking beer, watching the Packers, and whooping ass. Kennedy it’s not football season, he said he doesn’t drink on the job, so that leave's him no choice but to take care of Marella. He then did the rest of his mic work and said he is the man from Green Bay, Wisconsin.
5. Mr. Kennedy defeated Santino Marella in nine minutes. One of the better matches I have seen Marella involved in. Kennedy was solid as well, and the most over guy of the night. The highlight was just seeing him come out and do his microphone work since he was suspended when he was supposed to be Vince's son back in Green Bay in September. After the match Kennedy got on the microphone and said who's crying now.
Intermission
6. Beth Phoenix defeated Mickie James in eight minutes. A good match. It followed what has been on TV in recent weeks, but it was much better. They turned it up a notch. One of the better women's matches I have seen live. Mickie was extremely over as well.
DX came out next to a massive ovation. They went on and on for a good while making jokes in the ring. They did their usual stick and finally Snitsky and Umaga came out.
7. Triple H and Shawn Michaels defeated Umaga & Snitsky in 20 minutes.
The first six or seven minutes was just making fun of Snitsky. Shawn didn't want to get in the ring first. Shawn and Hunter played rock paper scissors. Shawn lost, and screamed he always hated that game. Then they made fun of Snitskys teeth. Triple H took some gum from a fan and gave them to Snitsky who swatted them out in the crowd.
Shawn pulled down Snitsky's tights when he was trying to pin him. Snitsky didn't know what was going on at first. Then Triple H got back on the microphone and asked if anyone had some hand sanitizor after Shawn touched Snitsky's tights. The same old lady who got Val's towel earlier gave them some hand sanitzor. Triple H, the Ref, Shawn Michaels all put it on. They tossed it back to the lady, and Umaga screamed. He got the hand sanitzor and put it all over his body.
Finally once the match got going it was good. Michaels hot-tagged Triple H after awhile. They took care of business and won. Shawn and Hunter posed in the ring for a few minutes. Then went out and shook hands with hundreds of fans surrounding the barricades. I was able to shake hands with Triple H, and right after that Triple H actually laughed and then hugged a small girl wearing a Jeff Hardy t-shirt. It was really cool that Triple H did that and it seemed like he was really happy to see a young fan like that.
8. Randy Orton defeated Chris Jericho in 19 minutes in a street fight to retain the WWE Title. The voting ended up being a street fight. They fought into the crowd a little bit, brought out trash cans, kendo sticks, a table, and other things. It was a very nice back and forth match, with Jericho coming up a little bit short.
After the match Jericho got on the microphone and thanked everyone for coming out and said Green Bay is Jericho. He went around the ring for some time, and shook hands and signed autographs for anyone who was holding out something to sign like I was.
Notes: A good show, with Kennedy, DX, and the main event. DX and Chris Jericho really went out of their way to make the fans happy.
Outside the arena after, Kennedy drove like a mad man with his good looking girlfriend/wife, and two other women in the backseat. Charlie Haas and Umaga drove together. Snitsky drove alone. Mickie drove alone, and waved to all the fans and rolled down her window to talk to some. Santino drove alone as well. It's cool to see the wrestlers outside the show like that.
