WWE "Super Show" house show report
Springfield, Mass. at the MassMutual Center
Report by Dot Net reader Joey P.
I do not personally recommend attending a show at the MassMutual Center. The place is a toilet, the crowd acted like what goes into a toilet. There was very very minimal security, the people (not just kids, but "adults" too) rush the front row after every bell with nobody to tell them to sit down. I saw the fools knock down a poor little boy trying to make it back to his seat with his overpriced popcorn.
People stood on their chairs throughout whole entrances and matches, nobody told them to sit down. Sadly, I missed the ending of the C.M. Punk vs. Batista World title match because when I yelled through my megaphone for the guys in front of us to sit down so we could see, they started threatening to shoot us in the parking lot so we just got out of there. We are just a couple of Vermont Green Mountain Boys and didn't feel like getting shot by some 17 year old kids with something to prove to their buddies.
1. Evan Bourne defeated Mike Knox. Good back and forth match, Mike Knox had the crowd really going, Bourne hit the shooting star press and the crowd went nuts.
Tony Chimel came out and hyped the main event and asked the crowd to text what match stipulation they wanted for Batista vs Punk: two out of three falls, or falls count anywhere.
2. The Miz and John Morrison beat Jesse and Festus, Finlay and Hornswoggle, and Hawkins and Ryder in a Fatal Four-Way match for the WWE Tag Team Championships. Awesome match, the MIz and Morrison got awesome heat from the crowd especially Miz. The bell rang and Festus went nuts and cleared the ring. Everyone got in some good spots, Horny nailed a suicide dive though the ropes. The Finlay and Hornswoggle act has gotten stale to me, same old thing.
Morrison pinned Jesse to get the win, it was hard to see exactly what Morrison hit him with because this is when the people really got out of control. After the match there was a long stare down between Jesse and Festus, and Finlay and Hornswoggle. Finlay whacked them both with his shillelagh and the crowd popped.
A "Best Body" Diva contest ended in a no contest. Maryse, Lena, Jillian, Natalya, Layla, and Kelly Kelly all came out for a contest, which ended without a winner when the girls all attacked Jillian when she wouldn't take her shirt off and started to sing.
3. Triple H and Big Show beat Umaga and the Great Khali. Triple H got a huge ovation, so did Show. Almost the entire match was Khali and Umaga beating the crap out of Triple H. I don't know if they are trying to give Khali experience against better workers that can make him look better or what, but it was a lot of Khali pounding Triple H. A lot of quick tags by Umaga and Khali.
Show finally got the hot tag, came in cleaned house. Khali finally slowed him down, and after suffering 20 minutes of pure ass whooping it only took The Game about a minute to recover and take a hot tag back from the Big Show. Hunter gave Umaga the Spinebuster, gave Khali the Pedigree, and the match was over.
Intermission was next.
4. Kofi Kingston defeated Paul Burchill (w/Katie Lea) to retain the Intercontinental Championship. The crowd was not really into this match. They came around towards the end. This crowd was of a lesser intelligence for sure. There was a spot where Katie Lea got up on the apron Paul missed Kofi and almost hit Katie but managed to hold back. He turned back around, got the Trouble in Paradise and the match was over.
I am not a fan of Kofi Kingston. I think that clap is dumb. He is a talented performer, but his gimmick is so stupid. (I personally am a big fan of the heels, I guess my favorite wrestler of all time is HBK...but I get a real kick out of guys like Randy Orton and MVP, those are my boys that I cheer for.)
5. The Hardy Boyz beat MVP and Shelton Benjamin. If Shelton Benjamin is the "Gold Standard," then what does that make almost every other guy on the roster? This match was so long and drawn out and so boring, I got wicked crowd heat for booing the Hardys and yelling "boring" through my megaphone. The Hardyz got twice the pop that Triple H got. A LOT of spots in this match, MVP had some guy in the front row all bent out of shape through the whole first part of the match. MVP kept refusing tags and jumping down from the apron.
Matt Hardy finally hit a neckbreaker Jeff hit the Swanton bomb on Benjamin and pinned him. Shelton teased a face turn after the match and went to swing a chair at MVP but dropped the chair at the last second and they hugged in the ring. The crowd booed like crazy. Funny how they were cheering for Benjamin to hit MVP, and then when he didn't they really let him have it. There were so many false finishes in this match, the most entertaining part was watching the morons that stormed the barrier before and after each match kept running up there to get to the front, only to have to go sit back down because the match wasn't over. They must have ran back and forth 10 times before the match was finally over.
6. C.M. Punk beat Batista to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. We actually had to get up and leave in the middle of C.M. Punk's entrance, the guys were standing on their chairs and I asked them three times to get down, and then when they wouldn't I yelled as loud as I could through the megaphone right in their ears to sit the "f" down. At that point the kid who couldn't have been older than 17 said he was going to his car to get a gun to shoot me and my friend.
And since they didn't do and kind of security searches at this arena whatsoever, the kid would have had no problem getting back into that arena with whatever he wanted. They weren't even checking the tickets that people print off the internet, they would just rip them and tell them to go in. There was a total of six security guards in the whole arena. This was the first show that I felt completely unsafe to be at from the second I walked in the door. They had nobody even screening people, checking bags or anything. This place is a toilet. Sorry, I don't have any details on the main event.
